This is a very rare drug and is not in use in many countries anymore due to many factors which are unclear.  Meprobamate is what Soma (carisoprodol) supposedly changes into once inside the body after its first liver pass....I'm not sure on the specifics.  But it did the trick, and was by far the best muscle relaxant for back muscle spasms!  Maybe a topic in the forum could clarify this.
