My pain history:
I have been in many car accidents that have given me minor pain in my back, but when it's out it's really out.
I was training to be a UFC fighter, and had my arms pinned under me so my sparring partner didn't know I was trying to tap out when he twisted my knee and put me in the hospital and a leg brace for 6 months (this happened in December of 2006).
The reason for my chronic knee pain:
My doctor decided that she wanted me to go through physical therapy to work on pain management (and gave my hydro 750s) until I was able to have surgery. I have not been able to have my PT or my surgery is because something happened to my stomach in April of 2008 and I haven't been able to eat food (I live on a diet of protein drinks and water) so they decided that my stomach comes first.
My plan and concerns:
I have been on vicoden 750 (three at a time) or norcos (two at a time) for over 2 years now. These pills do nothing for my pain, but if I don't take them I get physically ill and detox badly. I was told that if I take methodone I won't detox. I tried that, and it was true. However, this made me detox worse when I stopped taking it and am still living in chronic pain.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could take to get the pain away until I have surgery on my knee? I cannot take Ibuprofen or Asprin (doctor's orders) because of a surgery I had 4 years ago. I am going to try to get an appointment today or tomorrow so I can get on something that helps. Any suggetions would be greatly appreciated, and hopefully I won't detox off vicodens in the switch over.
