Here are the changes he made in my meds. Neurontin 300 mg tid was changed to 600mg tid. And percocet 10/325 five times a day to opana ir 10mg 4 times a day. Any feedback. I have the meds have not taken yet.
Sounds like a decent upgrade
Did the doctor mention why s/he chose opana over the other options? I read your other thread and I'm just curous. My PM has never mentioned it. When I took neurontin titrating up was really easy on my body (until I got much higher than where you are). I wish you luck! Let us know how it goes. MrsP
It has been crazy. My mom has cancer and I have been helping her. So my pm doc changed my meds because I was not getting significant relieve from the percocet and neurontin. I also was concerned about the tylenol in the percocet. I was thinking it would be an extended release med. I don't know why it wasn't. I don't want to question the pm doc. You know? The first 2 days on the opana were rough. I also don't know if it would the been better to titrate but the doc said to just replace one for the other. They were both ir meds. What do you think. Yesterday I feel I have adjusted to the opana. But I am not sure if it is that much different in pain relief. Ill have to give it more time. Also, luckily I have insurance because the cost was over 600 dollars for a months supply. Thanks for all your help!
I've never taken Opana but my understanding is that it is a more powerful medication than oxycodone. Its possible that you are on a relatively low dose since you are only taking an IR formulation. Its likely that your doc will be open to the possibility of either increasing the IR dosing or adding an ER too, the latter being preferable in my uneducated and inexperienced position.
I was on neurontin and told my PM Doc that it made me woozy all day and I felt really crappy...You know what she did? She increased it from 400 mg. to 1000 mg.!!! "***" wHY DO THEY DO THAT? If it's making me feel bad make me take more!!! Yes, Yes, that will fix it!! (sarcasm here).

please do not use wt* in your posts/g
a shame that you probably will not take the gabapentin as ordered...it does take some getting used to but it does help a heck of alot...sometimes it does more for me then my pain pills.
I find that the neurontin does help. I did have to get used to the increase and was tired for about a week. But then was fine. I also have been taking Opana ir 10 so that could have made me tired too because it was a new med for me. After some time of taking these meds I have foud that they have offered great releif. I hope it lasts! Happy November Everyone!

I will be sure to check out the full moon. I really appreciate everyone on this site!

the change in opiate? Percocet not cutting it? How come no long acting med? You're still nowhere near the ceiling with the Gabapentin...
Good luck.
