How much difference between a green 30 mg morphine (E653) and an blue 80 oxycontin (80 OC)? Will it last as long? My 80 OC lasts 6-8 hours. The 30 morphine doesn't seem to effect me much.
An oxycontin 80 says it supposed to be green but it sure looks blue to me. In fact, the color is just a tad lighter than an Ambien. I'm not going to switch to those crappy 30 morphine though.
The generally accepted ratio is 2M=1OC. So every 2mgs of morphine (orally administered) is equal to about 1mg of oxycodone (again assuming the drug is taken by mouth, the ratios are different for IV admin)
so... 30mgs of morphine is equal to about 15mgs of oxycodone...you would need about 160mgs morphine to find the same relief as your 80mg oxycontin. Considering they don't even make that dosage you are probably better off sticking with what you have or looking into a higher line medication if you've reached the end of the OC road.
Accorindg to CMDT 2009, equianalgesic dose coversion of oral morphine ER (MS-Contin, OraMorph,) to oxycodone ER, (Oxycontin) is 90-120 of morphine q. 12 hrs to 40mg oxycodone q. 12 hrs.
Starting doses are 30-90 q. 12 hrs, and 20-40mg. q. 12 hrs, respectively.
Oxycodone is not used intravenously in the U.S. at this time.

Since when is an 80mg OxyContin blue?
