i don't know if i'll ever be out of pain ... i've tried many things to relieve it... only thing that helps at all is lortab but the doctor's wont' give me anymore.. what else can i do.. i have no insurance anymore and i'm not working because of this pain in my arm and back and my other arm is going out badly and fast... only thing they did give me was naproxen and something else that doesn't work and i can't afford anymore any suggestions???

i have been to 8 on my back and over 20 on my hands and arm...including chiros... and 7 on my face cause i have nerve damage in my nose and forehead !!!! had to have many shots in my face...back and arm......this is nuts!!!!!!! but thanks anyway

You should look for doctors
You should look for doctors that are actually PAIN SPECIALISTS, then switch- In my yellow pages they actually have a section for pain management doctors.
I know thats how I found mine! Big ad in the yellow pages, the top of the ad said : ARE YOU IN PAIN? in huge black letters.... And ive been seeing him for years- ever since!

i have tried one but he
he wasnt' any good at all... i feel like i'm going nuts here.. if i do another one will they take payments? i'm only getting 200 a month nothing more... and i'm so tired of paying doctors all the time and not having any money for me or my son .. guess they will have to take payments... some dont' though

Is it a PAIN specialist that has you on Naproxen??
When i first started seeing mine a long time ago I didnt have insurance at all and I did pay in payments, BUT HE DID do a credit check LOL!

but she did send me to the surgeons...the one on my arm did say it will take a year for the pain to go away but he won't give me anymore meds for it... but i have seen one here and one in fl... didn't do anygood but that's been years ago too.... oh my goodness.... if they check mine i'm doomed lol and it's because of medical bills too lol oh well i can only do what i can and no more lol... hmmm my emotions aren't working lol oh well... geesh nothing works for me lol

Its not fun to keep paying
Its not fun to keep paying med bills ESPECIALLY WHEN the doctors arent helping, but there isnt much you can do but keep trying until you find a sympathetic doctor who is comfortable prescribing the meds you need for your pain levels. Hope you find one!

Did you ask the surgeon what youare suppposed to do for the year it is going to hurt if he wont give out pain meds? He may be able to refer you to a doc who does prescribe meds for long term pain, too.

well out of all the doctors i have been too none wants me on lortabs ... but this regular doctor does know my situation and is trying at least... and i go to see her this week too and i'm telling her i can't afford the second med she gave me and i'm still in so much pain i can't even to my hair much less my son's hair or walk without limping .... and sleep ??? most of the time what is that? but i know if i don't get any tonight i will be worse tomorrow... but i usually get maybe 2 hours at night and one during the day .... yeah last time i paid off my medical bills it was 35 k and those were only paid off cause of someone dieing ...

If your doc doesnt want to
If your doc doesnt want to prescribe the schedule III lortab anymore you should suggest darvocet which is schedule IV. If your doc is worried about prescribing stronger opiates he would be more lenient with something like darvocet(dextropropoxyphene/apap), tylenol III(codeine/apap), or ultram(tramadol).

no i have not tired it
havent' even heard of that one much less tried it... oh he said to take ibuprophen or tylenol... so i take like 3 to 4 every 3 to 4 hours .. and they tell me that's too much... i'm like what am i supposed to do?? i can't walk or do my hair or get dressed???? and with lortabs i feel almost no pain .. almost

Well the darvocet, Tylenol 3,
Well the darvocet, Tylenol 3, and tramadol are still a prescrption drug just weaker than the lortabs he was giving so he might be more willing to give you those if you explain that none of the normal stuff works. (like tylenol, aspirin, or ibuprofen)

Tramadol/Ultram is A LOT
Tramadol/Ultram is A LOT easier to get. So it would be worth trying. Bad side-Even generic ultram is a good bit more expensive than (generic)Lortab.
So without insurance, that might be a deterrent w/ultram.
Im prescribed Lorcet and I know what you are saying w/the pain control. It does wonders for me too. I dont live in FL but Ive heard the doctors down there are pretty stingy with the painkillers lol... Did the doctor give you painkillers to take until you find another doc/solution? Or just send you on your way?

after 4 months he stopped with
the lortabs then i had my surgery on my arm but my back doctor said see ya in a year.... my arm doctor i go to see in january but i'm not going to him this time i can't afford 70 dollars for him to tell me the same thing he did last time..." yep your still in pain see ya in 3 months" and nothing more....

The only thing you can do is
The only thing you can do is keep looking. If you go to superpages.com, there are pain mangmt doctors all over the place. Surely you could get help from someone, I would hope! THough it is difficult to find a good doctor when you are already having money issues. I think i would tell the dr. you are seeing this wk that you CANT WORK BECAUSE OF THIS PAIN and you need a referral to someone who will help so that you can work or you need his help. Honesty really does help!

did you say your in florida? im near tampa, their are pleanty of doctors willing to precribe in you have legit pain. im from miami and the crooked docs down there had me on so many things. he had me on oxycodone 10/650.....but he wasint very smart couse you can only have so much tyleol a day. he gave 240 of thoes! pluss 90 40mg oxycotton, 90 nureotton..(spelling) , lyrica. so when i moved to tampa, he referred me to another doc that has me on the same ammount of oxycotton, only he changed my percocet 10/650 to 30mg oxy without tylenol witch was nice! im sure you can find a doc that is willing to precribe. you willhave to pay something for it tho. i payed 300 the first visit, then 150 every visit after. so hang in their. and good luck. (sorry about the spelling, im in a rush this morning) oh yea, my doc doesnt take insurance..soo idk if that helps or not..

yeah i WAS in fl i'm not now
i had to move about 2 years ago so i'm not in fl now my ex left me and i had 3 days to get out cause he didnt' pay rent... but this pain is legit big time .. there are days i can't do anything cause my face arms and back hurt .. i have applied for disablity but they turned me down so i'm appealing it .. im in the middle of it right now.. lol can't spell good either

i took nyproxen for a headache years ago. i dont remember if i had any relief or not. ask your doctor about tylenol with codeine. it helps better than what your taking now. only it makes me itch alot
also how old are you may i ask. age may have a role in it. are you young? doctors are scared of their own shadow nowadays because of all the drug seekers going in trying to get pain pills and overdosing.. im in no way saying your seeking drugs. but i know it was hard for my son to get anything and he is 21 and they didnt give him much of anything. i think it was vicoden

may i ask how you were hurt? Have you had any test done? xray? i know its hard when you dont have insurance, but that might be the reason your doctor wont precribe any narcotics anymore. I know from experience that after they tell you to get some test or blood work and you dont follow through, and you go back to get more pills, he isnt very happy. its rough not having insurance i know! im one of the lucky ones who do even tho my doc wont accept it. it does help at the pharm tho. i hope you feel better soon! :)

my insurace just wont' re up cause they say i make too much money now 200 a month is not enough with a child.. i have had many many many tests.. on my right arm it didn't show anything but there again they could not finish the muscle test because there is too much pain but the doctor that did that test did not tell my arm doctor that.. and my last arm doctor is a *^!&!!! he did the surgery but he told me i was hooked and he will NOT give me any meds... i got beat up in 1995 and almost died.. then in 1998 i was in a car accident which didn't help much at all... the guy broke my nose made me have nerve damage in my face nose and forehead (found by cat scan and xrays) yanked on both arms and tried to kill me ... my mri shows scolioisis in my back and fluid in my arm... my other tests show .. severe arthrisits in my back .. my nerve test in my arms show nothing my muscle test shows nothing but they could NOT finish my muscle test and i'm very upset that he didnt' tell my doctor and when i told him .. he just looked at me like i was crazy.. and im not happy about that at all!!!

i even have
a t.e.n.s unit that i use and i use ice and heat .. and i'm still in severe pain all the time! dont' ever let anyone tell you another person cannot hurt you that's bulll... he got put in jail and was supposed to pay all my doctor's bills but never did at all! that's been since december 28,1995.. i also worked in a gorcery store for years so that didnt' help my arms at all!!

nmost doctors these days are paranoid about prescribing pain meds and it is sad for those who need them..if u keep looking u will find one but it is expensive to look....how many were you taking each day? 4-6 10 mgs a day is the most doctors will usually prescribe of hydros and really if that is the difference between lifting your arm or not being able to, then it may be partly psychological because that is just not really enough to totally enable you to function if pain is that severe...as a rule they just make you not care so much and then you can get up and go, energy factor from them. I feel for you as chronic pain is no fun, but taking too many hydros a day can kill your liver. ice and heat, anti-inflammatories and drugs like nuerontin can help alot for now
Go see a different doctor.....thats your only option
