I had my RX filled with generic Oxycontin with the brand name of Mallinckrodt. I was very disappointed with the Mallinckrodt. This was done due to cost factors $$$. In the past I was getting the generic oxycodone er made by the company Teva which were satisfactory for me. For me the brand Oxycontin is by far the best. But as some people may know that there were no more generic Oxycontin ER made until September 2 2008 when Mallinckrodt received a contract from the Purdue/Pharm company. The point I am trying to make here is Mallinckrodt Company "stinks" as far as quality. But reading past posts on this web site I kind of expected this this inferior product from Mallinckrodt Company. Any comments from the readers??

Got to Agree

Oharejoe,hi there! Once again I so have to agree with you & anyone else who has had an unfortunate experience with this lousy pharmaceutical company. I was explained the way that the ER formulation is a very   sophisticated process in how it is designed and released. My doctor is very detailed & a well of knowledge. It is so vitally important for anyone who is prescribed this medication to take it exactly as instructed. Time will tell oharejoe, to see how this "generic" pans out. Take care & welcome to this great sight.blueangelCool

Mallinckrodt Oxy's

I can't speak for the Oxycontin ER by Mallinckrodt, but I am Rx'd Roxicodone IR (30mg). I've gotten the (1) 'Qualitest',(2) Actavis aka Amide, and(3) Mallinckrodt brands. After all the bad hype about the Malli's, I was reluctant to get them but that was all that my pharmacy had at the time. When I questioned the pharmacist about the bad rep of the Malli's, he informed me that it was the 'Actavis/Amide' that was discontinued because of the inferior quality, and has been discontinued. So to my surprise, the Malli's worked just fine. Now my pharmacy currently carries the Qualitest brand, (the one with the funny "V" on one side, and scored on the other side with a 48|12). IMO, the Qualitest work the best for me. But if push comes to shove, I would take the Malli's if they were out of the Qualitest. All in all, the Qualitest generic is by far the best as far as I'm concerned. AIP

Maybe if we all emailed

Maybe if we all emailed Mallickrodts website and told them our opinion on thier brand something would change. Maybe tell them that a lot of people actually go out of thier way in order to stay away from thier product. I am sure that some of their meds work fine but from my experience they are garbage. This is bad becaue most pharmacies carry mallis especially for narcotics. Nothing will change unless we do something.
