MY PAIN CLINIC JUST CUT ME OFF OF MY 80MG OXYCONTIN-BOOTED ME FROM CLINIC ALL OF A SUDDEN
Said that my last urine test showed none of the oxycontin in the screening and morphine showed up.
My GOD i have never ever taken anything like morphine except when i was in surgeries for my back and i dont take nothing but what they prescribe period!!
I have no idea as to why the oxycontin didnt show up either as i was on it when they did the urine test.
I am in charlotte nc and have been going to this same pain clinic here since 2007 and had this just happen and the doc from there called me 2day and said i can no longer be seen there by them,now im left w/no meds whatsoever, this is not going to be a happy thnx giving for me at all.
What is a person to do in this situation? Has anyone ever had a wrong screening on their drug/urine test?

You can always request a retest and ask for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry for confirmation. Is your specimin jar always labled with your name before you take it into the bathroom with you? I think this is the most common source of error, mislabling the sample jars especially if they are doing urine drug screens on many patients a day. A calm face to face non-defensive discussion with the doctor before you run out of your current prescription can keep you in the program. Offer to come in more frequently, get a script for only a week at a time and have weekly or twice weekly drug testing for month or so. That may go a long way to reestablish your credibility if the test was in error.
Thanks doc but the doc that called me from the pain clinic was pretty well set on his reading of the results of the urine results and said he cannot put his job on the line and write me any more prescriptions and also referred me to the contract that i signed that i can/will be cutoff immeditaly from his/their care immediatly if a positive drug screen comes back as in what has happened.
I know that somewhere someone has messed up as he even said there was no oxycontin in my urine at all and i honestly took 2 40mg the day before the drug test and one the morning thereof.
As far as the lableing of the urine, the nurse lables it as soon as i hand it to her and puts i think a yellow band accross the lid and then drops it into a plastic ziplock type bag
If I was in your situation and really took all my meds as prescribed and didnt just take them the day before and the day of and if I had the money I would go to the clinic in person and offer to pay for and take a hair folicle test. The hair test will show a steady intake of the drug over the last 3 months and will prove without a doubt you are telling the truth. Here is a link to an at home hair test that you mail the sample off to a lab, you could offer to do something like this. Or go to whatever clinic they use. In situtations like this you need to go above and beyond to get that trust back, simply saying "I will take another urine test the first one was wrong" probably isnt going to cut it.
I don't know for sure but I was reading on another posting about this exact thing and since they red flag your file they said to go there and get your file and take out anything saying that Oxycontin didn't show up in your system out and to take it and get a new doctor at a new clinic. This advice was givin to someone else on here and they said that's what they did and it worked. I don't know from experience just from here say. I wish you the best of luck! I know this may sound weird but is there any way someone could of gotten ahold of your meds and did a switcharoo on you? One time I had a bottle of Lortab and someone (who is no longer my friend) took all the Lortabs out of the Rx bottle and put Extra Strength Tylenol in the bottle. The pills looked exactly the same as the Lortabs and when I realized they weren't helping my pain, I looked at the pills and realized what the (ex)friend had done. I know this is way out in left field but do you think there is a chance this might of happened to you? Just trying to help.....

I have 2 possible ideas about what might have happened w/your urine test situation.
1-This actually happened to me...
I did a urine test a long time ago and I had taken (prescribed) Percocet. The test came back positive for Morphine (but NOT Percocet). I had never in my life taken Morphine at that point. Turns out that on some test, some narcotics test as morphine. This was a while ago and I know the tests have gotten better but at the time the main tests available did NOT test for the drug itself but for the metabolites of the drug, (what the drug turns INTO as it passes thru your system). I'm guessing that Oxycodone metabolizes into Morphine?? OR Whatever Morphine turns into is the same thing that Oxycodone turns into.
Note that BOTH Percocet and Oxycontin contain the same active ingredient, Oxycodone. Thats my best guess of what happened but in this day and age they could have and should have used a better test.
2-This is my other thought on the subject...
Have you actually LOOKED at your remaining pills? (if you have any that is). Remember that the same company makes BOTH OXY-Contin AND MS-Contin <--MS-Contin is MORPHINE! The pills look quite similar. They are both small time release tablets in various colors. Also..there are now a few brands of morphine tablets (such as Kadian) and lots of generics. Its VERY possible that one could be mistaken for the other and the doses COULD be the same. From what I recall the morphine pills USUALLY come in 15mg, 30mg, 60mg etc. and the Oxy usually comes in 10's like 10mg, 20mg, 40mg etc but you could have both drugs in the same dose. Check that out before anything else and/or maybe go back to your pharmacy or pharmacy records and verify exactly what you were taking.
If you can get it done (and you can afford it!)--I like the hair follicle test idea that was mentioned. Thats a great idea as it will show the complete history of what you are taking not just now but for the last few months. That would prove that you were taking your Rx as prescribed.

Kadian is a capsule not a tablet so that would be kind of noticeable. It is definitely possible to confuse MS contin with oxycontin especially if you think of the abg generics(the oxycodone abg generics were discontinued though). They are both small round pills with abg on one side but the numbers on the other side reflect the strength and the morphine sulfate was 15, 30, 60, 100 and the oxycontin was 10, 20, 40 80 but they were similar shape but different colors but could be mixed up if someone had a prescription for the MScontin and switched it with your oxycontin.
and oxycontin came out with new formulations that are 15mg, 30mg and 60mg but your right before they came out with the new oxycontin strengths morphine usually went by 15 intervals (15,30,60)and oxycontin went by tens.
Also if this really happened to me and you honestly werent abusing I would talk about getting a hair follicle test or redoing the urine test and consider talking to a lawyer. I wouldnt just sit back and take it when I did nothing wrong and if I honestly didnt break the contract but the doctor kicked me out anyway I would start talking to a lawyer about options. A contract is a contract and if you didnt break it the doc has no reason to throw you out
Maybe "Dr. Lois" could help you. She could contact this Dr. and explain that this poor woman is in pain and needs a retest. Just a Doctors oath thing they make, to do no harm but help when needed etc.

Get yourself an independent test ASAP to show your pain Doc. Just make sure this testing agency is a reputable one, or offer to pay for another one from your clinic. Some of these Pain Specialists are SO SO busy that they often make mistakes or make rush decisions because there is always another patient waiting!

yea ive checked checked and rechecked again all my meds, even my blood pressure pills and all are what they are suppose to be, i also had a visit from the mailman today w/a certified letter that i had to sign for which was from the doc and pain clinic notifying me of my termination of any more teatment from him/them by way of results of the drug test,,, im totally baffeled
