Does anyone know why the tip of my tongue would be numb for 5 days now? It is only the very tip of it, and it is not causing any discomfort, but it is just awkward. I woke up Friday and it was like this, and has not changed since.
I have not changed my meds, ate anything different, had any trauma, burnt it, bit my tongue, done illegal drugs, or anything else that I can think of that could be a cause of it.
Does anyone have any clue, suggestions, or anything?
Js57gifts, have you ever smoked cigarettes? You don't have to answer the question but smoking might be a possibility.
I used to smoke cigarettes. And after many, many years of smoking I developed a numb tongue off and on.
I don't smoke any more but I still often have a 'numb tongue'. It's mostly the tongue tip but sometimes the numbness seems like it spreads to my entire mouth. It's quite uncomfortable at times.
I've mentioned it to both my doctor and dentist and no one seems concerned. Of course, I get "The best thing you ever did was quit smoking" lecture, but neither one thinks the tongue numbness is a problem. Hope they are right!

no, no odd things or lesions in my mouth. No sores or anything. i also do not smoke. I did a long time ago, but I quit about 4-5 years ago.
I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience.
