Just don't ask for something stronger. That might be construed as "drug seeking", but if you are truly in pain and can back everything up with test results, urine analysis et al; that shouldn't be that big of a deal -- that is if you have a good relationship, trust wise, with your doctor! If you are really willing to ask the doc for something stronger ask for Percocet. Looking at your treatment so far that would be the next logical step before they eventually move you to some extended or continous release medication.

10mg of what? You forgot to mention what drug you're on. Morphine and methadone are strong narcotics, maybe you were underdosed. I am surprised that neither one of them helped you at all. In my opinion, your next step would be transdermal fentanyl. It comes in strengths ranging from 12.5mcg/hr(low) to 100mcg/hr(high), and is especially useful for chronic back pain. It has turned my life around. Although I have several other chronic problems that cause pain, it helped the back pain and brought my pain level down from a consistent 7.5-8.5 to 2.5-3. It truely is a life changing drug. The one thing that I like about feanyal in particular is the lack of euphoria and constipation, itching like most other narctioc pain meds produce. I wouldnt say lack of euphoria(the feeling "high"), but it's the euphoria you get naturally from being pain free. I guess we should find a new word for that. I'm still working on it. There are several other users of fentanyl on this forum and I'm sure they will tell you the exact same thing I have said. Next time you are at your doctor, you might want to mention fentanyl to him and see what his thoughts are..Hope this helps...Ray
