I am on 6 5-325 percocet a day I am supposed to take 2 at once it is killing my stomach can anyone tell me what I can say to my doctor in the morning to get something stronger without asprin? like 15mg ROXI?
I highly doubt its the Aspirin in the Percocet that is upsetting your stomach, since Percocet doesnt have Aspirin in it. Percocet 5/325 contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen (Tylenol) which is relatively easy on even the most sensitive stomachs at therapuetic doses. What type of stomach complaints are you having? If you are just trying to get an increase in pain relief I would suggest asking for Percocet 7.5/325 two at a time, before you start asking about Roxicodone, unless your doctor is "cool". The little bit of acetaminophen in the mix does actually help the narcotic work better.
I have to agree that asking for the 15mg oxycodone IR is not an unreasonable request. Tell him you have been researching med's for pain. I really doubt he would be upset and all he can say is no then you just stay with what you are on and maybe look around for another family doctor and explain the situation. There are numerous way's to talk about your pain and needing something stronger that will address your pain.
I have to pay cash so I need something cheap and stronger I know oxy's are not cheap but 180 percocet 5's cost me about $40 at wal-mart they are just not working like they used to im scared to say something he's kinnda touchy but cool if you get what im saying.....
bloom...when I was going thru the whole ting about getting something stronger from my dr, he had no prob rxing me something different. i went thru about 4 or 5 rx's with the tylenol in them, it was like 10/660 vics, then 7.5/325 percs, then 10/325 percs, and there were a couple others, then he finally put me on the roxi 15mgs like u said. When I was paying cash, it seemed to me that the meds with the tylenol were more expensive than with out it. the one that comes to mind is the perc 10/325s. for 120 a month, at a Hannaford supermarket Pharmacy, I had to pay..230 dollars!!!! AND they were generic!!! BUT when he put me on the roxis, 120 of those for a month was only 100 bucks at the same place. they were also the generic, Amide brand A214s. I dont know why the perc 10s were so much more $$$, but u might wanna mention this if he tries to put u on 10mg percs. I dont know what part of the country u are in or what pharmacy u use, im sure price differs a little from state to state. I was in Maine of all places. Paying cash for rx's is no fun, but if u have a good doc to work with you, u should be ok. Mine was so good, he even called the pharmacy while i was in the appt with him, to see the price on different meds and to make sure they had a generic in stock. so good luck to ya, hopefully it works out for you.

i was on 4 of the same daily...and after trying all his methods,
having a new mri that showed changes since surgery, i just told
him straight out that it wasn't enough ...during my 6 years with him i had never asked...he put me on kadian which has been way better, percocets for breakthrough..good luck
I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
