Hey guys n gals,
My first post, wahoo!! Welcome welcome to meee! I am having a bad reaction to the Fentanyl patch 75mcg. Its making my arm breakout in some sort of contact dermatitis, but its painful to touch, and the sticky stuff wont come off, and its quite painful when i take it off to move it. I was wondering to ANYONE who has tried "Actiq" (the fentanyl lollipop) Or Fentora (the tablet form)....If it is comparable to the Patch, and if it is at what strength did ya'll notice a difference? Currentlly i am on a 75 MCG patch q72 hours. And also for BTP on OxycodoneIR 5mg - 2 po q4 hours prn for BTP. So any feedback is awesome!
I've tried OxContin..i was up to 40mg TID, and i have never had more releif than i do with the fentanyl patch for my back especially with it being winter!
Let me know! thanks!

I have only taken the Fentanyl Patch and agree that it works really good. I' ve heard from friends that the lollipop sucks so I would recommend asking your doctor to put you on Fentora(the immediate release Fentanyl) and see if that works. Hope everything works out God bless!
I'm really beat tonight but I'll give you what I can. I'm on the 100 mcg p/h Fentanyl patch (The Mylan brand, it's the best choice by far.) I'm also Rx'ed OxycodoneIR 30 mg one every 6 hrs. Those two drugs are for my CP, for BTP I'm Rx'ed #120 Fentora 400 mcg 4 p/d as needed. Retail on that one month Rx is $3,890!!!
#1 What brand of patch are you using??? Is it the reservoir pouch kind??? Those are AWFUL, especially the Watson brand for me. I get what sounds like the same reaction that you're getting. YUCK!!!!
#2 Do I understand you correctly when you wrote that you take your patch off to move it? Why are you doing that? That's a REAL BAD idea good buddy.
#3 Neither the sucker, Actiq, nor the effervescent tablet, Fentora, can replace the controlled release action of the Patch . . . and that is that.
#4 I'm off to bed, please hit me back with the answers to these questions tonight and I'll finish up what I've started here.
#5 Good Luck and Good Night . . . Q
but ive had it rxd. totally different than the duragesic patch which is supposedly 72hr of relief. same med bud but totally different uses yes all for pain but the patch is long acting where as actiq or fentora is very short like 2hr. sounds like you may just need the correct brand patch or a different extended release med ms contin oxycontin avinza kadian blah blah oh ya opana er blah blah... ive too had the black box on my arm chest shoulder or wherever i placed the patch? just about had to scrub my skin off to get it clean, think i used rubbing alcohol to get it clean, but alot of people that use them like quincy swear by the brand that you use. i think if u use the correct generic fentanyl patch your problem will be solved, and for pain relief the patch is about the best it gets, but i only got like 48hr. relief from a 100mcg. patch and then would belive it or not start to have mild w/d symptons if i didnt place another on and then in like 6 hrs take the other one off. i was only rxd 10 a month so it was a problem, and i didnt know back then about the different generics helping with the yucky adhesive. think im allergic, one time i had a 10 hr surgery and the breathing tube was placed on my lip with tape to hold it in place. when i woke up either they dropped me on the floor and kicked me in the mouth or i had an allergic reaction to the surgical tape. on my next 10 hr surgery i told the anesth and doc about the lip issue and they used something else and problem solved.
what exactly is type that you can read?!
I can read this but your very first post looked like this mess.....

#2 Do I understand you correctly when you wrote that you take your patch off to move it? Why are you doing that? That's a REAL BAD idea good buddy.Im not taking the patch off to move it, im saying after 72 hours im moving it, as in putting a new one on.
#3 Neither the sucker, Actiq, nor the effervescent tablet, Fentora, can replace the controlled release action of the Patch . . . and that is thatso your on fentora for CP, i had C when i was 13 and they gave me Marinol and something else, but i dont know if im having residual effects from the radiation and chemotherapy i had....hmm

I didn't think I needed to mention that I had C, but I'm pretty sure that ocrage is right, they only let us cancer dudes and dudettes have Fentora on insurance, the stoopid idiots. I have CP caused by the cancer therapy. In the Fentora P.I. they don't really make much of a distinction between the two, all it says is that "Physical Dependence, per se, is not ordinarily a concern when one is treating a patient that has cancer and chronic pain, and fear of tolerance and physical dependence should not deter using doses that adequately relieve the pain." Wouldn't it be nice if every sadistic PMD out there was forced to commit that phrase to memory?
#1 MYLAN makes the best patch, the Fentanyl is in a matrix with the adhesive so you only have a flat little 2" X 2.5" approx. piece of plastic to apply. Duragesic, the original manufacturer of the Fentanyl Transdermal System, makes one like it but I haven't tried it. Watson SUCKS!!! You will still need a dressing bandage like Theragesic to put over the Mylan patch just like you do on all of the reservoir pouch patches, just to hold them on securely for 72 hours. I scored on a bunch (200) of an off brand dressing called "Dr. Care", I doubt if I'll ever be able to find them again but I do have an e-address for their U.S. branch office: www.edaint.com I've never checked it out but, there it is. It's a 2.5" X 4" Dressing Bandage.
#2 I didn't think so but I thought it was worth asking, ya never know what some people might do, now do you?
#3 An old buddy of mine died a couple of months ago because of "residual effects" from his treatment at age 24 for Hodgkins, rotted his kidneys and liver, he was 58 when he died. I'm 55 for what that's worth. But you might try to play the C card, ya never know. I do know that I get the red carpet treatment when it comes to my pain meds though. My wife is disabled by CP (DDD, Fibro, Osteo, etc.) and she practically has to beg for her meds and she's been seeing the same Dr. for 7 years! I hate that there is such discrimination against CPs. I've written many posts on that subject. Good Luck and Good Morning . . . I'm off to see my oncologist.
Q
PS: Ocrage, I sure didn't swear by the reservoir pouch patches unless you mean when I'd cuss 'em out for falling off or making my skin look like I had Leprosy. LOL

please use type that we can read ....also your avatar pic was a bad choice...carry on.
