Here is alil of my medical history...I have been suffering with JRA since I was 9 yrs old had both of my knees replaced when I was 20 and both knees replaced when I was 27. I have been on Predisone for 16 yrs because nothing else works. I have tried plaqunel, metheltrexate, embral, gold injections, hummera and numerous others I can't remeber but nothing helps! I got hooked on pain meds about for about 4 yrs when I was 24 and was able to get off about 2 yrs ago. I haven't needed them for 2 yrs because my arthritis was some what under control. But recently due to high stress and weather change(moved to different state) my arthritis has been at its worse again. I have contimplated using pain meds again and my rhumatologist says I need to be on them so I started taking them again but am so scared to get hooked again! I only take 3-4 a day but starting getting that withdrawl feeling again when not taking them. I am scared and worried. I have only been taking them for 2 wks and I am hooked again I just know it. It is so scary cause it is the only thing that can get me out of bed in the morning to take care of my 3 children. My morning stiffness is so bad in the morning so I break one inhalf and take that and an hr later take other half. I take one before bed so I can sleep and one more throughout the day. I don't know what to do. I need them but I am so scared. Please if anyone can help me I would appreciate it. I just don't want to depend on them to feel normal and I don't want to go back to the days you are afraid of running out!
Just as prescribed. Don't change your dose without discussing it with your doctor first.
Your body will build a tolerance and become dependent on the pain meds, this is normal. When it's time to come off again, your doctor will wean you off. As long as you keep to your prescribed dose, you are not an addict. There is a difference.

many times, follow Your Dr. s guidance, everywhat He recommends try it, if it leaves bad side effects You cannot handle report this to Him so that between You an Your Dr. Youll get the right combination, sooner or later.
In Our past discussions We wrote of the pro s an con s of using cortisone an predisone on a daily basis, take care, an come back an let us know how You re doing.
