I am really starting to worry. I am currently taking Hydrocodone 10/325 and Oxycodone 30mg for back pain although, no one really knows what is wrong with it. My doctoc wants me to go do a blood test to make sure I havent affected my kidneys and liver since I was on Percocet 10/325 and Hydrocodone 10/325 for so long. It used to work really well... HOWEVER, these past 4 days I have been in so much pain. I think when I go get tested for liver and kidney damage... I will see if they can do a cancer one. Can they do that? I dont know why I am in so much pain and I am very scared. Everything hurts. My back, my legs, my feet... its unbelievable. I have good days and bad days .. but like I said.. the past 4 days I just can seem to get as much relief as usual. Usually, when I take my meds, the pain is gone .. like a miracle.

I worry now that I may have something worst than just back pain but some kind of cancer. My husband's cousin went in for neck pain and just died of Lung Cancer not too long ago. I wonder if there is something really serious going on here.

I know my tolerance has not gone up! I still feel light headed when I take my meds.... I feel them kick in... and they are strong but man... why am I still hurting. Those pills are strong, I should not be in any pain after taking those. Just sitting at the computer is killing me right now.

Does anyone feel the same way???? What is going on with my body? I feel like my back is going to split in two. Frown

I am only 29.... I have 2 beautiful kids, a wonderful husband and I have so much to live for. This pain is making it so that I cant do certain things. Theres been days lately where I cant even get out of bed!!!

If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know!

Mel,

I'm glad to meet you but sorry for the pain you are experiencing.  You should follow up with whatever tests your doctor wants to give you.  When taking pain medication and you're still having excruciating symptoms, it's a good idea to get yourself checked.  You are still young and as frightening as it may seem, wouldn't you want to know if there's something going on?  Hopefully, it's treatable.  Don't be scared and don't be afraid to get another opinion if what you hear is not satisfactory.  much luck to you!  ~ Theresa

I suggest you have Dr. test your medication

as being effective, have him watch you consume both, wait 4 hours draw blood to see if drugs show postive.

I'm confused by your contradicting statements - I've copied and pasted them below:

Personally I'd feel a bit worried if (s)he is just treating you with meds but has no idea what the underlying condition is.  As you know, the pain meds simply mask the situation.  And sometimes that is the temporary answer - masking the pain while the body heals.  Or treating an incurable or inoperable disease or injury.  But you as the patient should know what's going on...

ya, same way here. When my

ya, same way here. When my pain comes back, which no one can explain, but most worse in my back, even had MRIs and every test known to man, I start screaming at dr.'s and telling them I know I have some kind of disease or fibromyalgia, but they just don't have any answers. Mine started to get real severe at about 26 and I'm 31 now and it escaltes every year, but first ebgan at 14. Which ironically, was the year I got into my sport that I still do. I'm an athlete in a male dominated extreme winter sport, so I can only assume my muscles have scar tissue all over in them from over exerting myself.

To still have pain on percoset without having a tolerance is really rare, IMO. Vicodin is not very strong, but for some one fairly new to narcotics, percoset (oxycodone) should knock out most any pain, unless you limbs are hanging off. But everyone is different. Weight and height have something to do with it also. When I first started taking percoset I could only take a half of one (I'd cut a 5/325 in half) or I'd get sick. My brother came over once in pain and he had to take 3 to get any relief. Feeling your meds kick does NOT mean you don't have a tolerance. I've taken narcotics for years and I still feel them kick in and feel at least a little bit high. Well, "retarded", is a better word.

Psychosomatic pain syndrome

Go see a psychiatrist first thing after your blood work comes back negative. They can help.
