I have been taking Lortab for about 7 months for a back surgery that i had. the pain stopped in my back and i found myself addicted to the pain medication. i am a recovering alcoholic, and i felt like i was just substituting my drinking with taking pain medication. i talked with my wifes brother who is in recovery for his addiction to pain killers. i asked him what he was taking to get off the pain pills and he told me suboxone. he offered me a pill to try and i took one. i did not take any lortabs today, but i didnt ask for any more of the suboxone from my brother in law. i was wondering if suboxone is a narcotic as well and if it shows up in a urinalysis. I have to see my doctor on the 17th and he will test my urine to make sure i am not abusing my pain medication, and i didn't know if the suboxone i took would show up on the test. So I guess my questions are:
~Is suboxone a narcotic?
~Will it show up on a drug screen?
~If so will the drug be out of my system in 14 days?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

on the site here, there are many many threads about suboxone, and you will be able to read up on it before you go see your doc.
You can talk to your doc about getting off the lortabs, he will be able to help you with it. Don't just take suboxone from a family member, it can be dangerous if not taken as prescribed from a doctor.
Drug screens will only show positive if they have a specific panel for Buprenorphine (the opioid in Suboxone).. It will not show up as a normal opiate because it's not a morphine derivative (comes from thebaine, just like hydro and oxy).. I was on the stuff for over a year, it seems like a miracle at first but don't be mislead. you are using an extremely potent opiate, that's just as addicting as methadone or heroin.. it's just more socially acceptable...
Sorry to rant, but when I even see Suboxone or hear it mentioned, i just shudder....
You may shudder, but are you off of it now?
Been off it since March, I had to go to detox just to get off it... worst w\d's ever. And that was even with the help of a LOT of Valium, thorazine, phenobarbital, and Ativan,
But, am I off it?? YES
Would I ever go back on it? NO
....for a Suboxone detox?!?! My god!
Thorazine?? It wasn't like you were freaking out on LSD. But I guess they thought it would benefit you.
This sounds like a story for a new thread titled "Suboxone Withdrawal Nightmare." lol
i'M SORRY, i HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THE WITHDRAWLS WERE THAT BAD, NOT AFTER COMING OFF OF 120MG . OF METHADONE COLD TURKEY AFTER 2 YEARS, NO WAY COULD IT BE AS BAD AS THAT!
Everyone is different. Have you ever come off of Suboxone?
did you quit cold turkey or taper down to a lower dose?
I was on 300mg of Oxycodone IR a day, xanax, weed, alcohol, and I have in 100 days, tapered from 24mg odf sub to 2-4 mg of sub a day.
Eventually I will go 'Cold-Turkey', but I have gained so much from the counseling, and 12-step programs, that seeking a pill for relief is just an alien concept for me. Don't go to the ER and get low dose sub, join a real outpatient program. Change your life, don't just avoid dopesickness.
Thankfully, I am not a chronic pain sufferer, and that is good becuase suboxone has little analgesic properties. I still take tylenol and ibuprofen when in pain.
Just my experience.
I was just so fed up with the &*&?, so I went to a Rapid Detox in Virginia, The Coleman Institute... For most people the w/d from the Subs may not be THAT bad... But i was on 20-24 mg a day of it for a year... Do the math (Bupe is like 40x as potent as morphine, which means i was theoretically taking about 800mg of morphine a day... Almost 400-500 of Oxy, that's depending on the Bio-Avail for your body) So thats just something to think about... Most doctors never tell you that Buprenorphine is that potent.
Oh, and the thorazine injections were to help me sleep through this Nightmare, as said earlier.. Mainly because I have an insane sedative tolerance, was on 800mg of Seroquel and 2-4mg of Ativan or Klonopin a day... When they did their figures, they put me on up to 100mg of Valium during the detox.
I'm not on here to scare anybody, but I just want to get the message out, guys and gals... Just so you don't have to go through what i did.
And, for the record I quit cold turkey, with the aid of those meds and Ultram.
did it really help you with your w/ds the ultram i mean how much did you end up having to take of the ultrum
They prescribed me 150-300mg a day (3-6 50mg pills) And it did seem to help somewhat
I searched for personal reports of people using tramadol for withdrawals and found the following page.
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Pharms_Tramadol.shtml#Health_Benefits
I only read a few but these people say it was a life saver for getting off harder drugs, even heroin. Best of all a few said it also helped with their chronic pain and that they didn't have withdrawals from it.
Everyone varies but I think it would help you if getting off percocet (if I remember correctly)
best to you
(I'm going to copy and paste this in the other thread you were asking about this in, just to make sure you see it)
best of luck humdizz but just talking from my own experience, Ultram is addictive and I had to taper off for quite some time after taking it for 5 years after a nerve surgery. Just don't want to see you beat the other meds just to have to deal with w/d's from Ultram after that..... like others have said though, everybody is different.... good luck.
Been off Ultram for 3 months... no w/d probs whatsoever. Probably because i was only on it for a month or two. The Seroquel seemed like it helped ALOT too... as far as sleeping.
If you took suboxone within 12 hours of a lortab or a percocet, you would have been sent into full blown withdrawals. This chemical is slightley different in that it does not lock onto your brain receptors as tightly as the lortab or percocet opiates and without the half life of methodone. This why it makes for a little more comfortable detox.

Suboxone is strictly speaking an opioid but in the context your speaking of, yes it is a narcotic.
It would depend on the type of drug screen, but it is most likely to show up.
Strictly speaking it would not be out of your system in 14 days, but if it is a urine analysis it will be out of your urine ( but not your nails or hair but I doubt they test them )
So 14 days and a urine sample , you should be fine.
