Urine tests in Dr. office....how long does it take for the results? and what do they look for?
Hello all....I want to thank you for reading this. I have been with a Dr. for several years.... I take, meds for different stuff... synthroid, lyrica and lisinipril... But I also am prescribed 150 of 10/500 hydrocodone per month and I take Soma, 1 pill per night....or as needed..( i do not take the Soma every night).
So here is my problem!My last Hydro prescription was filled on Dec. 4th. This was a 31 day motnh....The Dr. office was closed on Friday, 1-1-10, so I called the pharmacy for a refill on Thurs. 12-31 so I would be able to pick it up on the 30th day....1-03-10. I THEN called my Dr. office to let them know that I had put in for a refill ( we have done this every single month for at least 4 years). I told the receptionist that I needed to leave a message for my Dr's nurse that I had called in for a refill but that I only wanted it to bw ok'd for the 3rd...the lady said " oh don't worry, they know" Well, of course the script was denied.
I just so happened to have a dr. appt today. All of a sudden, the nurse says we have to have a pain contract and do a urine test. No problem with me normally, however, since I was out of my Hydrocodone for the last day, I took a 10mg methadone that a friend gave me. I had kept 1 of my regular hydros for this morning, as that is when i hurt the worst!
Anyhoooo. I had a urune screen and I do have my hydros in my system for sure! BUT! MY BIG QUESTION IS>>>>> Can they tell I took a methadaone? It had been less than 24 hours since I took one, and I do NOT normally take those, but I was hurting BAD. Also, the Dr. office DID refill my !%) count hydro10/500 today...after my urine test....does that mean the test was ok? or does it take awhile for it to come back?
I AM SO SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING, I AM JUST REALLLLLY WORRIED AND STRESSED! tHANK YOU SO MUCH!

just a question someone might ask, how long was it before the urine test you took that pill...maybe when you did the test it wasnt processed into your body.
Uh OH! But do you think the Dr. office normally test for that? Or do they just test for the pills you are supposed to be taking? I only took 1 methadone!
Does anyone know if they do the test test right then and there in the Dr. office? The nurse even came in the bathroom with me during the test! Weird!
Do they send out for the test?
She did say, after I had asked if the amount of urine I had collected in the cup was sufficient, that it was enough, she only needed a little to mix it.
I took the methadone about 20 hours before the test
ooo, ouch ya even 1 pill will %?#$$ your pain contract up...see if the doctor sees you took something else they cant risk being let go because you screwed up(basically, dont take it hard)
and yes they test for everything pretty much, they test for all other opiods...and you probobly wont find out til they call, mail, or when you get called in???
maybe someone can chime in on how you get let go but im sure it is something close to one of those.

What's with all the "I screwed up at the PM doc" posts lately?
I have been with this Dr. and on my same pain meds for years. Today I walked in for a normal appt. and get hit with a "We need to have u sign a pain contract AND a urine sample" I was hoping they were just testing to make sure I was doing the proper amount of my hydros, which I DO! But being just one day after my pills were out, and the dr did not refill, i was given a methadone from someone. I really hope this doesn't screwme. I need my pills....I have to have surgery, But my dr. wanted me to wait as long as I can for that. Now I may be cut off my only source of a normal life. Man,,, this blows!
Does anyone know if they send out for the urine test results, or if they do them in the Dr. office?
pretty much they get a reading of whatever you are taking as soon as you give the test.. if they thought something was weird about the test they would not have given you a refill.. period.. they would of straight up told you what they found and asked for an explaination.. sure they can or will send it to the lab... but they would of told you something..
Thank you Foxface, I was really hoping to hear something like that. I am not a drug abuser by anym eans. I was out on a holiday weekend. For 1 darn day. I was in the office for at least an hour after I gave the sample. so, hopefully I will be ok. And I will NEVER take another pill not prescribed...so help me God! :)

umm, that was bad...ive read that methadone stays in your system for more than just 3 days.
benzo's can stay in your system for a week or more, and pain meds will stay around for 3-4 days.
not to jyxn you, but that might have been your last script. they dont take lightly as anyone on here will tell you...do not take anything other than what your supposed to, and as much as your dose it.
