I was wondering since i had an allergic reaction to hydrocodone if i took oxycodone would the same thing happen? Im sure nobody could say with 100% surety but would like to know what the chances are if any.

Not necessarily but it is

Not necessarily but it is likely. Make sure to tell your doctor you have had an allergic reaction to hydrocodone. If he decides to prescribe you oxycodone he will likely want you to first take it in a controlled environment where you can be monitored for an allergic reaction. All of this depends on what exactly your allergic reaction consisted of...

I have had a horrible allergic reaction to codeine...though on othertimes it was fine. I've never had a problem with other drugs like hydrocodone or oxycodone...

Make sure to talk to your doctor about this issue before trying either drug...it can be the difference between life and death

Did you actually have an allergic reaction

or did it just make you sick?  People are rarely truely allergic to narcotics, on the whole.  A true allergic reaction would be things like intense itching, hives, trouble breathing..histamine related effects.  Just asking, because some people will just get nauseous or throw up and then think they are allergic to a drug, when in reality, all they did was get sick because they weren't used to taking narcotics.

Codeine did basically the

Codeine did basically the same thing to me a few times (roughly 10% of the times I've taken it)...but had very few adverse effects on all other occasions. What I experienced was not simply the typical opiate side effects (itchyness, nausea). With the codeine my face and arms broke out and turned red, I could feel my throat and face start to swell up and became worried that I wouldn't be able to breathe. The nausea was mild and possibly related to the anxiety...

Still I've been Rx'd hydrocodone roughly 10 times in my life and never had a problem...I've been Rx'd oxycodone for the past year and taken it all but a handful of days without having an allergic reaction.

Still, like I said, you need to get clearance from your doctor before you take oxycodone since it is likely you will have the same reaction. If I had to place a wager on whether or not oxy would do the same as hydro or not my money would be on yes, it would.

YOU need to see a allergy specialist

to find which ingredient you are actually allergic to

they do a %@*%& test, take a needle break the skin, put each place with a different ingredient, the allergent will produce a red swollen response so you know what to avoid.

believe I would do this because, You may consume something else with a higher dose that will send your body into shock.
