I've been Rx'd "roxi"codone...aka immediate release, non tylenol oxycodone for about 6 months now. The first 3 months the pharmacy I went to had Mallinkrodt brand. Since then I've recieved Amide/actavis. The only other brand that I know is still in production is Qualitest. Being curious as to the variation between brands I would like to try these next month...

My question then is to anyone who has recieved Qualitest when filling their prescription: which pharmacy did you fill at? Ofcourse if its a mom and pops pharmacy that probably won't be of much help but I would still like to know if you have recieved these on a regular basis since that might be my best shot.

Anyone else who know of another brand of this medication  that is still in production? If so, how does it rate in comparison to other brands you've tried?

Thanks for the input

I get qualitest 15mg Roxis at

I get qualitest 15mg Roxis at Target pharmacy.  Qualitest is good stuff. All their products I have tried I liked. I feel they make the best Hydro products, and their roxy line is excellent. Reliable, quick onset, long duration. Very comparable to Amide.

Excellent! There are tons of

Excellent! There are tons of target pharmacies near me and my docs office. Next month I will call ahead and check....thanks so much.

As a follow up, have they ever given you a different brand of roxis there? I just want to make sure I don't get stuck with Mallincraps...

Your answer was exactly what I was looking for...glad I wasn't too much of a je rk to you before...otherwise you might not have been willing to help me out...or maybe I was enough of a je rk that you're trying to trick me into getting the dreaded Ms...lol jk...

thanks again

Ive gotton qualitest at CVS

Ive gotton qualitest at CVS before... also had mallin too from there soo call around. I get amide A 215 from my mom and pops. Im thinking of leaving there tho. I had a bad month last month. I usually get 240 but im trying to taper down and so the doc wrote it for 200 and I recieved 150. I got home and  I had one bottle with the seal on it (100) then 50 in another bottle. I went back and this "new" girl told me once you leave theres nothing they can do. The owner was out of town. Well he called my doc and told him that im a druggy! BTW I've gone to this pharm for 10 yrs or more. My doc fixed the problem and I went else where!

Oneir....LOL!!! Even if you

Oneir....LOL!!! Even if you did really make me mad at you, I would never wish the nasty M on you! In the 15 and 30mg's no, nothing but qualitest or amide. Now, they are carrying the Mallys for their 5's, only because they cant get ethex or amide right now. I dont remember if qualitest makes a 5mg, I will look that up next, if so I dont know why they dont use qualitest for the 5's too. Target is great about being up front with you. I had one mishap with a new guy,y but the regulars know I dont take Mallys and they will tell me before it is even filled if thats all they can get, which has only happened on the 5's. They also seem to carry good generics, ie motrin, they carry the brand that has IBU on one side and the dosage on the other, rather than those honkers from the cheaper generics that are twice the size and not coated.

Deanna has a point too with CVS. I have heard that a lot of people say they have poor people skills but the CVS in my town is excellent. The pharmacist knows me personally and will take time out of his very busy day to say hi and hold my son. He also had the kindness and authority to order a generic other than Mally, usually exactly what I wanted. Sometimes the tech would say "we only carry this...." and he would peak over the counter and tell her he orders special for me and put it under so and so code. I miss going there.

Qualitest does make a 5mg tab

Qualitest does make a 5mg tab but Im not sure about the IR capsule, that could be the difference, I was getting the capsule. I had to because my rx was written out as oxy ir instead of oxycodone immediate release, the time I had titrated down on my dose for a month.

Deanna:

next time you run into a problem with Your count, tell the pharmicist You want see his daily audit of his medications for that day, verus his inventory.

pharmacies have to do an keep a daily log, an current inventory of their narcotics

usually taking this approach will get a faster answer.

Deanna NJRX has spoke about

Deanna NJRX has spoke about this several times.  My pharmacy keeps an up to date in a big book.  They do not need to go thru computers to check,  just open the book.  It is a hand written number at my pharmacy.  But if someone is doing something less than honest, you may never get the difference.  Take care, htmom

Oneir

The Qualitest brand oxycodone is just ok IMO. . . Oneir you take th 15mgs right?  I actually think those are a little more effective than their "painted on lookin" blue 30's. . .

I've never received any from a national pharmacy which you would know of, just local doc's and a few mom and pops. . .

Why are you looking to switch over? Looking for some strange?  lol . . .  My preference is 1) Actavis 2) Malli and then 3) Qualitest

In my experience most of the places where i fill my scripts usually have a variety of the three brands above, and they always let me choose what I want to fill...

So in the end, you probably won't notice much of a difference between the Actavis and the Qualitest, but you'll probably end up back with the Actavis...  Lets see if I'm right... Keep it posted

I am in south Georgia and I

I am in south Georgia and I mostly use mom and pop pharmacys. I am prescribed 30mg roxicodone aka 30mg oxycodone and let me tell you qualitest is GREAT! I have tried all the other brands and it is my opinion that qualitest produces a wonderful product. The 30mg tabs are a deep, deep blue. The picture provided by this website does not capture the tab's blueness. They are deep blue, almost purple.

Not sure what part of the

Not sure what part of the country you are in but Meijer carries Qualitest. I just had some filled today. Any of the Good Neighbor pharmacies also carry them from what Ive seen. Good Neighbor pharmacies are kinda inbetween a national chain and a mom and pop. They look like your average mom and pop but they will have a sticker on the door that says Good Neighbor Pharmacy, they are basically independant pharmacies that have exclusive contracts with certain wholesalers so they get better prices like the big chains (strength in numbers). Another poster mentioned CVS, Ive received Qualitest there after contacting Qualitest and they told me that they have contracts with CVS's wholesaler so they would be my best option for a national chain. However CVS in my area does not stock CII's so they have to order them just like Kmart, Target, WalMart and RiteAid. The only national chains in my area to stock CII's is Walgreens and Good Neighbor and the multi state Meijer. I guess it could be noted for future reference although Walgreens carries Actavis (the best) Roxicodone 15mg and 30mg tablest they do carry Qualitest in 5mg tablets since Actavis no longer makes them.

One last thing there are a few new manufacturers of 5mg, 15mg, and 30mg Oxycodone IR tablets. So the following companies is a complete list of manufacturers at this time:

Xanodyne (name brand Roxicodone), Qualitest, Actavis (no 5mg tablest), Mallinckrodt, Sun Pharma (made by Caraco), Core Pharma (received approval 8-26-09, probably not in the market yet), and KV pharma(still listed by the FDA as Prescription market status however they are not currently in production but may resume at a later date)

One cool thing about

One cool thing about Qualitest is if you can find a good pharmacist who is willing to do they will drop ship an order of any med they make if they have them in stock to any wholesaler the pharmacist wants. They wont ship directly to the pharmacy though, atleast at the time I contacted them. 800 444-4011

yes

walgreens also has them and i love them i feel they are great for pain and i have no problem with them. I have been on pain management for the last 9 years and have found an excellent doctor who is my primary care doctor and also does pain management with a select few patients. he is awesome.two years ago the pain doctor i had was prescibing me 6 80 mg oxy a day and 8 roxy 30's for break through also soma and zanex i was so euphoric that i couldnt do anything. i am amazed at the amount of pills i was doing. i realize that more isnt always good. today my doctor has me on a good dose of oxy's and roxy 30's and my life is excellent.

Deanna that happened to me too

A few years back, a Publix pharmacist accidently gave me 30 xanax when I was meant to get 60.  I was glad I noticed when I got home so I called them.  The pharmacy tech said they needed a few minutes to check their computer and called me back apologising.  They were very nice about it.

I have never gotten the Qualitest brand but I don't really notice much difference between the actavis amide or mallincrodt as far as pain relief goes.  Mallincrodt though sometimes gives me a stomach ache and that's the brand I usually end up getting.  I've had trouble the past week just finding a pharmacy that has this medication in stock!  Most times I have it filled at Walgreens but I checked with 11 different stores Sunday and 6 CVS pharmacies & none of them had roxicodone in stock.  I ended up having to pay full price at my doctor's office Monday...Ouch, that's frustrating!

Did you call or go in? I know

Did you call or go in? I know CVS for sure is required to tell you that they dont have CII's in stock whether or not they really do, when you call. Many other places are like this. Some will straight up tell you that they cant tell you over the phone. They dont want to be a target for a robbery.

Thats weird brandon cuz the CVS by my house told me they had a CII med in stock when I called. And at the time I had never even been to the pharmacy...most the other pharmacies hang up on me when I ask about these matters...

I did both...

After driving through 4 Walgreens stores, explained my situation and the pharmacy tech called 3 other Walgreens pharmacies.  Two of them were completely out of stock and one had less than 20 tablets.  Then I tried CVS but only visited 2 stores, gave up and went home.  That's when I opened the phone book and started calling the other locations.

Thanks for the advice- I've had pharmacies in the past tell me that they can't give that information over the the phone.  At least they were honest with me.  I wasted a lot of time on hold, now that would make me mad if they acted like they were actually checking and were not!

Yeah, the CVS's around me all

Yeah, the CVS's around me all will tell me if I call and ask about CIIs in stock. Must be a regional thing.
