I have been on oxies 10mg 2x day for years now, however since a recent huge back flair up disc herniate the doc upped me to 20mg oxies 3x a day,now im stopping up as i cant move me bowels for several days now.
Any1 here have a quick fix for this and how long can u go w/out havin a bowel movement b4 it can become dangerous?
Brandman is exactly correct. Until your system get's used to the oxy's that is what you do Your body will adjust to them in a couple weeks (hopefully)
WATER. Lots of it. I am prescribed some powder called Miralax, laxative. Oh and When I started on a heavier dose of morphine it was right at the 2 week mark for a BM..
Brutal
I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
eat white castle for a couple days- that may help :)

I am prescribed the same - Oxycontin 20mg #90 per month. Water works for me - regularly drink water throughout the day. I also try to watch what I eat to make sure it passes through the bowels smoothly. For some reason, eggs pass quickly, so it has been a learning process for me.
I know eating a lot of salad when you first realize you are having bowel movement problems and it helps move things along...especially if you drink a lot of water. A couple salads and some water always helps out for me when i had that problem.

gobbs of water and some stool softeners, the time it may take someone to become septic from consitpation may vary, but I have heard of someone going one and a half weeks without pooping.
