Hey,

Apparently there are a lot more different forms of Hydrocodone than I realized... I thought that just Watson and Mal made them. Anyway, I just got a prescription for some because I just got 6 TPI's ( target point injections) and I thought that I had pain before... but WOW. I can't move and I have been crying for hours. I dont really want to take a time released pill, I want the full effect  now so that I can sit in this stupid computer chair and type an essay. I have never seen before and my mom saw it and said that it was time released... she thinks she had it before. The imprint is RX 498. If anyone knows about this or if anyone knows of a site that I can read about it that would be great. I tried drugs.com and they did not even have it listed, and all google gave me was ways to buy it overseas..

thank you :)

My Brother....

Has these same pills.  They are made by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals.  The pills he has are hydrocodone 10/500 and are white in color, round and they are scored.  I hope this helps.  If I can get him to send me a picture of his pill I will post that as soon as I can.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

The only time released

The only time released hydrocodone is tussionex which is a liquid syrup that is hydrocodone polistirex which pretty much has little spheres of hydrocodone coated in a edible dissolvable wax stuff that is in suspension in the syrup. All hydrocodone pills and tablets in the US are immediate release as far as I know. I have never had this specific generic though I guess its rare or something in this area.

Not to go off on a tangent

Not to go off on a tangent here, but did anyone else see the FDA release that all cough preparations that contain hydrocodone, with the exception of a very sparse few, have been taken off of the market due to lack of FDA approval?

Just curious.

Yes gtr, seen that a while

Yes gtr, seen that a while back. Posted about it in a few topics.

Gcdylan, are you in Canada? Im not aware of there being a Tussionex Pennkinetic tablet ever being approved in the US. Also, Since we are adding side notes, Mallinckrodt has a new med called TussiCaps which is capsule version of Tussionex Pennkinetic and one of the few name brand meds that they make.

I didnt know about those

I didnt know about those tussicaps. Learn something new everyday

Yeah i read about that a little while ago about the syrup discontinues. I know tussionex and a very few others are left and the rest were discontinued. Was this just for hydrocodone or is it for some codeine syrups too? and is hycodan or its generic hydromet still being made?

Ranbaxy Norco 10/325

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the site and this will be my first post.

I had spent the better part of the night reading post after post of this and that, and finally found one I could put my 2-cents in on.. LOL

I have been a doctor prescribed Norco user for many years, taking both the white M# ones and the yellow ones, depending on the pharmacy. That is until last night! I picked up my normal script from WalMart, and low and behold... I saw something I had never seen before in ALL the years on this medication.

These new pills are Round... White... and have the imprint RX497 on them.

Of course I went right to the internet..(Pharmacy having already closed for the day)... to research this new looking pill, and sure enough, it was a Norco 10/325. Was pretty hard tho due to most imprint research sites not having anything on this new pill... I finally found the knowledge here and one other place. Which in turn, lead me to read all kinds of post in the forum here.

I just gotta say.. I noticed a difference in the quality right away! Compared to the others I have spent so many years taking... They work sooooooooo much better!! I am taking one whole pill LESS per dose with these..so we'll see how well it lasts that way.

I also called the pharmacists first thing this morning to ask why there was a change, and who this new company was..etc...etc and he said that quanity from the other companies is getting harder to come across, so they switched this medication to the Ranbaxy brand, and he also added that yes, these are newer to the scene... so to speak.

Soooo... I just wanted to add that, for me... so far-so good with this brand!

P.S. I also went to the Ranbaxy Drug Site, and also saw that they DO NOT have this listed in their Generic drugs either.. kinda strange I think! http://www.ranbaxyusa.com/

Thanks! Tammy

Ranbaxy Norco 10/325

I've been a Norco user for many years now and I was surprised when I got my prescription filled at Walmart and it was that round white pill rx 497. I also think it's very strange that the Ranbaxy website does not list it either. I don't like the fact that it's from another country. I trust Watson or the brand name maker that are from the U.S.. Not to sure about those from other countries. They do seem to work alright. I know this much the generic makers Quali Test and Malinckrodt are most the time terrible. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. After taking for years you can tell when you get ripped off. Watson seems to be the most consistent or the name brands but who can afford the name brands. If generic drugs are supposed to have the same ingredients and same strength as name brands then why is there a difference in the price? How can medicine be like merchandise i. e., stereos? There is a big difference in name brand stereos and generic stereos but when it comes to medicine and they are telling you it's the same ingredients please explain. It could only be they are shorting you on the strength and that I know they do. If I'm paying for 10/325 I expect to get 10/325 no matter if the price is lower than name brand. Can you imagine how cheap Walmart must be getting these pills for. There is no shortage of medicine in this country. That is a downright lie from Walmart. They are making alot more money than they would if they bought them from here. The price for medicine in this country is just unbelievable. It's called the fleecing of America.

Michael61,

The extra money you spend on brand name medications has nothing to do with the quantity of active ingredient.  It is just like anything else that is a big name brand.  You pay more as a consumer because the company has to make up somewhere for all the tens of millions in advertising and marketing.  The other reason the brand costs more is because they are the ones that originally incur all costs of the R&D process, testing, controlled drug trials, and so forth.  That is why drugs are covered under patent for the length of time they are.  It gives the company creating and bringing the drug to market opportunity to recoup some of their investment without other companies x*#&ing up profits through generics.  Companies who do not have to pay a cent to research, develop, and advertise/market a drug.  They just get their pills bought because they're cheaper to the end user.

Sorry for the off topic reply, but that is the way the rock rolls.  Just like you can get a cheaper pair of shoes at Payless than going to footlocker and buying Nikes.

woodstock....

Thanks for the warning but, his surgery was back in January and he is off of the medication.  The pharmacy (regular not internet) he got them from has not issued any warnings that I am aware of but, I will give them a call and inquire about unapproved ingredients.  Thanks again!!!
