If Nucynta is an Opioid
If Nucynta is an opioid and Opana ER is an Opioid do they show up in a drug screen seperately or just as Opioid is positive?
That is what I was understanding from the information also. I don't know what kind of drug screen my doctors office does. I just pee in a cup and they send it out to the lab. I was just wondering if there would be a distinguisher between the two meds in the screen or would they both just show up as opioid...
If I were being tested I would have to assume that they would / could distinguish between the two.
Question the wisdom otherwise.
Usually if it is sent out to the lab they test for specific drugs. They can certainly tell what drugs you have/don't have in your system and what levels they are at. My doctor also tests for the non-opioid medications I am taking as well. I mean if your doctor just wanted to see if you tested positive for opiates then all he/she could do is a 5 panel dipstick test in the office as opposed to spending all the money to have it sent out for testing(which I imagine is more expensive).
exactly as Sprinks put it..... simple in office dip test just shows positive / negative for opiates.... if it is sent out for lab testing, then it can determine what type...
The drug test my doctor does is frightfully expensive. I just got the bill for it (no insurance) : $430.00. Since it is so expensive, I'm sure it's a very detailed test-at least it better be for that amount!
Phealnopain...I can't believe that you have to pay for UAs...I never understood why doctors do that..they are the ones forcing you to get the UA...they should pay for it! When I get a UA(which is hardly ever) I certainly don't pay...my doctor includes UA cost in his office fee(which honestly I don't know what the cost is, my insurance covers all but my 30 dollar co-pay). I think it's crazy that you are expected to pay for it...and you have no insurance none the less.
My pm doc uses an outside lab-and the lab tests for absolutely EVERYTHING. When I got the bill from the lab my eyes teared up. I knew I'd have to pay for the UA, but I didn't know it was going to be THAT expensive. When I talked to the lab about financial arrangements, they told me that they had a financial aid/fee waiver program for folks who had no insurance, THANK GOD!!!!
I recently worked for a large Hospital and Medical group. My Position was a lab Tech. I can tell you from first hand experience, It's all About " MONEY" The Doctors in the ER would order Test that was not really Lab protocol.
......................
Its not about money, Its not the doctor. Its the DEA. Its a law Your doctor has to give u a drug screen if ur on any scheduled 2 drug or higher every 6 months. If not he can loose his license. DEA is crackin down on doctors like wild right now. They also just came out with a highly more extensive, exspensive drug test ,that picks up clean back to 3 months ago.....

Opana ER is an opioid and according to the nucynta website "NUCYNTA® combines opioid and nonopioid activity in one centrally acting oral analgesic."
SO I believe both are opioids...as far as the drug screen goes...it depends on the kind of drug screen you are given.
