I just had my script filled and got these generics-
They look almost identical to the brand name and if u wasnt paying attention you prolly wouldnt notice at all.

Well, i just realised that this isnt a new pill at all as i just read post from 06-07 where the same pill was prescribed.
I know that the orig o.c company(pfhizer) didnt allow anymore generics to be produced by patent by any other manf after jan this year 2008
However i have been getting my oxy script filled for years at wally world-the same one i always use and they would give me the generics of a different brand name up and until around march this year when they used up all their generics as the pharmicist even told me so-well i have been getting the brand name oc,s since then --well up untill this refill--they mustve found some leftover generics in storage somewhere i guess or the mallincroft company is still sneeking them thru somehow--????
Actually the mallinkrodt generic is brand new so I highly doubt you read something from july 2007 about them. They just came out a couple weeks ago and were just allowed to be made. Also brand name is made by purdue not pfizer. Also they are slightly smaller than name brand and are a lot harder like a more dense version. I have only had the 40mg ones and I like them just as good as brand name and definitely better than some other generics that were made like Teva and the ones that start with G and dont follow the normal color scheme which I forget the manufacturer. You are right though all other generics were discontinued but they cut a deal with mallinkrodt to start making the new generics recently.
sorry if this is a little off topic.i was prescribed 80mg oxycontin tid,for like almost i think 5 years with actiq for breakthru 3 800mcg daily.then like 6 months ago i go too the doc and he said sorry but i am going too have too switch your meds because od pressure from the insurance company and the government bcbs,mi.????he suggested lorcet,i sat in awe, then suggested ms contin, and he said he could do that so he did 90 100mg ms contins a month, with no breakthru med.now that there is another generic oxy i was just wondering if the oxy could be prescribed again because that is what worked best.i pay high copays every week for my insurance so its not like its a small insurance company.i know the actiq even the generic was outrageous in price my copay only 10 bucks for 90 though.but it was still a shock too be dropped down in medication because i believe in politics or the government putting pressure on caring doctors that are aggressive in treating chronic pain.just wondering if anyone else had any situations like this.i get the watson ms contins and im not complaining but the oxy schedule worked alot better, the ms seems too make a lil drowsy and i have too work 12 hrs a day.just wondering next appt. im gonna tell the doc about there being another generic now out and see what he says.sure he knows but if you dont ask hes not gonna read my mind.any input on the malli oxys would be great specifically the 80mg,the best older ones i thought were the watson abg ones with the tevas being the absolute worse!!!
Why was your doctor getting pressure from the insurance company? If anything the insurance company should contact you directly or through your pharmacy when you go to fill it I dont get why the doctor said he was being pressured to switch it. Either way with the new generic out there should be no reason that they wouldnt want to cover it now that there is a generic. I definitely agree that MScontin makes you more drowsy than oxycontin does. I would put the mallinkrodt almost identical to the ABG and name brand in potency and are nothing like the teva ones. Also if the insurance doesnt want to pay for the name brand it has nothing to do with the government or pressure on caring doctors it just has to do with them not wanting to pay the higher price for brand name which should now be rectified with the new generics. If they did in fact not want to cover oxycontin anymore because of the stigma associated with it then chances are they wont cover the new generic either but I am pretty sure it had more to do with the fact that they discontinued the generics and it was prolly a money issue that is now fixed so talk to the doc about the new generic.
Ok kewl and thanks for the reply
How do you like them?
