With all this talk about Mallinckrodt VS. other brands, I know I prefer the qualitest brand. I have no Idea where to find the qualitest brand at. I can only find the mallis. does anybody have any advice on popular pharmacys such as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid...etc, where they have had success with receiving the qualitest brand, specifically for Hydrocodone. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Its hard to say which big chain pharmacys have which generics. They are all going to use a local distributor that they have a contract with. I know where I live (Michigan) I have been told by Walgreens that they cant even special order a different generic unless there distributor stocks it. I can add one thing about Walgreens in my area, they said they stock only Watson generics for there Hydrocodone products except the 10/660 Vicodin HP generic which is Mallinckrodt because a lot of people complained about the Andrx (which is Watson). Also any Walmart Ive been to always had Mallinckrodt for hydrocodone same with RiteAid. If you are in Michigan most Sav-Mor/Sav-On drug stores carry Qualitest/Vintage generics. You can also go to a mom and pop type store and ask if they can special order the generic you want, you would probably have the best luck at one that also does custom compounding.
The last place I recieved qualitest was a Publix in Florida. My OPINION Walgreens, Rite-aids, CVS, all tend to charge more for prescriptions, I don't imagine on every med, but unfortunatly I dont have insurance so I tend to call around when I get a new script. I have found Walmart to be the cheapest and they match prices and recently here in Ky Kroger stores began to match prices. Walmart has the 4 dollar prescriptions and kroger WILL match it. There are many different stores affiliated w/ kroger, Ralphs, fred meyer, frys, smiths, bakers, owens, dillons, city market,food4less to name a few , I am not trying to say Kroger is best just cheapest. Ihope this helps some
I have been receiving a monthly script for Norco (10mg Hydrocodone/325mg APAP) for a couple of years now, and I always was given the Qualitest brand at CVS Pharmacy. If I went to WalMart, I am given the Mallinckrodt brand, and I can go to Walgreens for the Watson brand. I don't know about the other dosages of Hydro, but for the 10/325 dosage, CVS has always given me Qualitest, no matter which CVS I ended up picking them up at.
In SoCal, Walgreens stock the Amide generic for oxycodone, and watson for hydrocodone. They are the worst though! Rude, nosey, and will be absolutely sorry, but if you want better generics or a 24/7 facility they are an option.
