hi all,

I was taking norco for a long time 10/325 8 pills a day. I have severe Fibromyalgia,Degenerative disc disease(L4,L5,S1),Arthritis on my spine,I am only 30yrs. But I have tried lumbar epidurals also steroid injections to. I had a Disco-gram (they are soooo painful and awful) and it showed I have level 10 pain in my L4 AND L5 I also have tearing by my disc. Also he said my S1 jont is bad. But the dumb Spine DR doesn't want to fuse my spine because he is not sure if it will cause me more pain or if it will fix it...(Military Dr) I have been on so many Meds for pain,to sleep, for muscle pain. I think I am going to get a second opinion..Well i am at a new pain dr. So the 8 pills a day of norco is not helping anymore only last 2 hours if that...He also put me on bacoflen for my muscle pain. I take that 3x a day...He put me on Kadian 30 mg capsule SR twice a day with the norco but drooped me down to only 4 a day.I didn't notice any relief for the kadian so i got off it went back to norco 8x a day..Well i just saw him on Tuesday and he put me on he wrote the scrip for roxicodone but people at CVS gave me Oxycodone HCL 15mg tablets ETH every 4 hours one pill. I do get some relief but not alot. The norco i got a fast boost then a low after 2 hours then gone..but with this I still feel pain. I don't know..I have red some people say that every pill well the company who makes it even if the same dose and brand will effect you different? is that true? My Oxy is made by ETHEX CORP..Is that good..I just don't know..anyone every take the kadian? my mom take 30 mg of the extended relief as well as the oxycodone 15mg Every 4 hours too. she has spinal stenosis.. what is the diffrence with oxycodone and oxycotin? are they the same? I also take lyica to.150mg 2 times a day.. also elevil for sleep. now i have read stuff about tramadol..what is that is that good? also with the norco I didn't fall asleep..this new stuff the oxy 15mg every 4 hours I am falling asleep. should i still be on it if i am so tired? I am just a mess..Any info on anything like what are good meds what is better...I see my pain Dr every month..so i get a month supplie..well I better go..one more thing the oxy kills my stomach even with food... okay done, thanks noraSmile

Tramadol is a much weaker analgesic than your hydrocodone or (norco). There's no difference between oxycodone and oxycotin. Oxycotin is the trade name for a higher dose of oxycodone, ranging 10mg thru 160mg. Oxycotin is made by Purdue Pharmaceuticals.

The 160mg OxyContin was pulled from the market way back in 2001. So they are no longer available. The highest dose of OxyContin currently available is 80mg.

There is a difference between the Roxicodone and OxyContin.

Roxicodone is Oxycodone immediate release, all the drug released at once.

OxyContin is also Oxycodone, but in an extended release form.

My stepfather is also in a

My stepfather is also in a similar condition with his back as you are, going back and forth with whether or not to fuse his spine.  The thing I don't understand is he is on 80 mg of Oxycontin 2 times a day as well as 10 mg. oxycodone IR pills for what he calls " breakthrough pain."  The nice thing for him is that with the Oxycontin it lasts 12 hours so there is no lag in the medication.  I am no Dr., but it sounds to me like something in an extended release is what would help you the most, it sure helped him more than the short acting medications.  Just a thought.

i agree that a time released

i agree that a time released medication might be a better choice; my aunt has fibromyalgia, a sever thyroid condition, her back is completely shot, the'yve removed discs, tried to fuse it, nothing ever worked for her. she's had 5 surgeries, and the doctors really messed her back up -- she is basically bedridden.  i know that she takes percocet 10/325, 5 times a day. she was also on norco as you are, taking 2 pills every 4-6 hours, but as she was also on the norco they gave her morphine, which made her extremely sick, and she prefers the percocet, alone, which obviously is just oxycodone. but, a time released pill i think might be more affective [oxycontin] since it does stay with you throughout the day. i've probably been not much help, i just thought i would share what i knew. good luck :O)

In Addition......

Thanks, Jess.  I will never understand why doctors prescribe short acting narcotics for people with permanent pain.  The pain will not stop, so logically the relief must not stop either.  The other thing I wanted to add,  I know that methadone has caught a bad rap lately, however it does have long-term pain-killing properties, and is also dirt cheap.  Even without insurance with the amount you would need for a month would cost less than $50.00, and for me, also cured my sleep issues.  I have never slept better in my life since being prescribed methadone for pain, and have since stopped needing 50-100mg. of Trazadone to sleep soundly through the night.   Best of luck to you, I hope you find the relief you need!
