i just want to know peoples personal opinions ^^
Oh, sorry.
I don't have any experience with muscle relaxers, so I can't tell you any personal experiences one way or another.

Well thank you anyway.
Stick around awhile, someone will respond. Eventually.

Carisoprodol (Soma) is a very effective muscle relaxer. Most people, myself included, like Soma over Flexeril because it is less sedating. Most people who take Zanaflex (Tizanidine) compare it to the effects of Flexeril (maybe a little bit stronger). Baclofen is a pretty decent muscle relaxant that seems to be getting more attention recently, Ive heard pretty good things about it again comparable with Flexeril. Ive also tried Parafon Forte and Skelaxin, neither of them really do much either in relaxing muscles or sedation. But lets not forget that Valium can also be used as a muscle relaxant. So I think the list for most effective for me would have to be as follows:
Valium
Soma
Zanaflex
Flexeril
Baclofen
Parafon Forte
Skelaxin
That is how it seems to rank by patient preference too, LOL, except I would put Zanaflex below Flexaril. Norflex would be just above Skelaxin. There is no clinical evidence that one gives better relief than the others.
Zanaflex and Baclofen are approved for use in brain and spine disorders like multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsey, not muscle spasm due to muscle injury.
Flexaril, norflex, soma, and slelaxin are "used as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, analgesics, and other measures for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. Well-controlled clinical studies have not conclusively demonstrated whether relief of musculoskeletal pain results from skeletal muscle relaxant effects, sedative effects, or a placebo effect of the drug. Most authorities attribute the beneficial effects to its sedative properties. The drug is ineffective in the treatment of skeletal muscle hyperactivity secondary to chronic neurologic disorders, such as cerebral palsy, and other dyskinesias."
From my past usage Soma has been the strongest sedative associated feeling from taking the muscle relaxant. Compared to most muscle relaxers it is also much more addictive and harmful in large quantitative doses. Rarely do Dr's first start a patient on SOMA since possibly soon it may be scheduled into a C3 or C4. So maybe will see a difference in the amount of people being RXed this med.

RxHistory: Whats Up, don't take any sarcasm seriously please.
I dont personally think its physically addictive, more psycological if anything. And usually when its abused its done so with other drugs, Im sure everyone knows what, so I wont get in to that. Its funny you mention that it might go into scheduling, from what I hear a lot of Doctors in my area are under the impression that it is already scheduled. Isnt Tramadol being looked into for possible scheduling as well though?
I used to be addicted to these things. They are known as Soma. When taken right they do help, but if you overdo it then you may overdose. I know many people around here who have. I almost did it once. I started having seizures for taking to many at at a time. I don't want to sound like an idiot but they are the best muscle relaxer even though they are non narcotic. There is also Flexeril, Robaxin, Skelaxin, and many more which do not help at all. Not even when taken right. That is why not many doctors want to give Soma's out to people and they are a controlled substance. If you do take these just be careful and not take too many at a time. If you do you could end up dying or slipping into a coma. I hope they help you , they did me until I messed up on them. The ones that are the Dans or say Dan on them are white and round and work best. If you get one that says WW on it, they are no better than a tylenol. Just my opinion as usual but I do know how these Soma's work.
Its funny that you mention that the ones stamped with WW dont do anything, because Im starting to think that they dont. I used to get the ones that said SOMA SAMPLE on them, and the DAN ones, those two where the best by far.
I was just lurking this morning and came across this old thread....anyway FYI I like the MP 58 ones lol
Hope everyones having a nice morning. Deanna
Yes, Somas are frequently associated with polydrug abuse as solo stated.
I've found that Norflex, and even Klonopin to be quite effective personally.
A long time ago, before I had any offically diagnosed pain condition, I went to a local urgent care center. The nervous P.A. there was hesitant to prescribe any type of pain killer short of Motrin 800. Ironic thing is, instead, she wrote me for #120 Soma.
Thought that was kinda weird coming from an urgent care center...raised some eyebrows at the pharmacy.
P.S. I'd like to compliment the OP's art on the "avatar." Very talented. Looks like an old girlfriend of mine.
and I might be wrong, that soma is half pain pill/half muscle relaxer
i know i had a cousin take too many of these, an his respitory system an heart just about shut down, remember the organs are muscles too
even if this post is 2 years old
well woodstock you are correct, they do make a soma compound. It has soma, codeine, and asprin in it. They work well. Plain ole soma is good enough for me tho. PS..yea old post.... I was actually trying to ID a pill I found in an old percocet bottle I found. Never Know whater your gonna find in the bathroom, I was doing my SPRING CLEANING!!! LOL. Maybee one of ya'll would know what it is., its white round and says C4. Its thicker than the watson 932 the 10/325...(I had these years ago). If you dont know, no big deal. But if you do right off the top of your head and know the brand and strength..ect please PM me.. Thanks Deanna
these are all benzos right??
Ive taken kolonipin, ativan, and xanax in my life time..
2mg of ativan puts me out after a couple hours.. thats all I have for experience.
clonazepam,lorazepam,alprazolam
kolonipin, ativan, and xanax
Dan 5513 (Watson) and V 2410 (Qualitest) are the best generics that I have seen. You can develop an addiction to these however it is more a mental issue than a physical one. Just my opinion. You can kick them in three days if you can stand the runny nose and body aches. It's like having a bad case of the flu. NOTHING compared to Opiate WD's.
THE BEST DRUG IS KETOGAN, We only have it in skandinavia, Thank God....
5mg Opiod + 25mg Muscelrelax in one tab, sorry for all you that dosn´t
live in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
the java...
SOMADRIL 350mg, is Also Very Good Muscle relaxer, And is on the INT. Market..
java...
I used to be prescribed robaxin, how come no one has mentioned that one?
muscle relaxers...Diazepam <VALIUM> is an excellent muscle relaxer, and it's cousin Midazolam <VERSED>, although Versed actually doesn't have "muscle relaxant" properties per se, but Valium certainly does. As for non-benzos for me personally tizandine <ZANAFLEX> works really well, cyclobenzaprine <FLEXERIL> give me resteless leg symdrome, Carisiprodil <SOMA> makes me feel drunk, and I usually fall down when I take it at one point or another. That's just me tho and you have to consider also tha t I take quite a number of other medications as some of you might already know....

Sorry 2FER, but this is kind of an opinion question. Some people will swear by one brand, while another person will say that exact same brand did absolutely nothing for them.
There's no real "equivalence chart" for muscle relaxers that I can find.
