I have recently been perscribed opana er for cronic pain. I have been under pain management for 3 years and have been on almost all opiod drugs during that time. My neck is caged , i have stenosis, degenerative arthritus of the spine and numerous blown abd bulging discs. I am interested in any information from people on this drug and any reactions or side effects involved.

Opana ER

I second phisher on his comment, this drug is so new you are definitely one of the first people to try it, besides the testing phase plus there is virtually no information on the internet about it, but I'am sure that will all change real soon. Oxymorphone-ER is twice as potent as the infamous Oxycontin (oxycodone-ER) and much more potent than morphine or heroin (8.7 times as potent of morphine. J Clin Pharmacol 1977 Apr;17(4):186-98). My guess is that the side effects might be minimal and nothing to be concerned about, besides the usual side effects on strong narcotics. Another important point is that alot of doctors feel strongly about this new Opana ER because it gives them another option in chronic pain management, for the patients on the other hand it should also give them a new plan of action in the quest for functional living.

Since you are the first to be a patient on Opana ER on this website I would ask if you could please take a photo of you tablet and post on this website for future reference, after all that is why people love this website so much.

P.S. sorry for ramble Laughing

My comments are my opinions based on the questions posted on this message board and should be taken purely as is and not as medical gospal. Please consult medical concerns with medical proffesionals. Thank You!

I too have the 10mg ER

I too have the 10mg ER Opana...   feels like a big dilaudid that sticks around a long time...  10mg ER works almost identical as OC20...  Duration seems longer.  Downside,  finding a pharm that can fill the script + cost is up  there..  $2 per pill after Insurance...

OPANA

I'm taking 40mgs. of Opana twice a day and 5mgs. 4 times a day as needed for B/T pain.

The Opana works well for pain.  I, however, have had negitside effects.  Stomach cramps, No energy!!  I might just be intoxicated by the drug however it is a deep inner rain releif.  Not one of such dirtyness fo say....Vicoden.

Again..Great pain releif...Some negitive effects.

Insurance

I am curious what kind of insurance you have??  I know that as for mine I pay either $7 or $15 or $30 for the most expensive. Is it because this is so new that no insurance covers it or do they just give you a discount?

Wow 2x as strong as OC

If the med is twice as strong as OC it seems obvious why everyone is sleepy and intoxicated feeling, since analgesics create that effect when newly introduced into one system, but give the Oxymorphine time and I'm sure it will be like all other Narcotics, being that tolerance will grow and that tired/intoxicated feeling will abside.

Thanks,

Just to clear things up,

Just to clear things up, it's oxymorphone, not oxymorphine.

opana 40

I have been taking opana for 3 months now with norco 10/325 up to 8 times a day since my spine fusion.. the dr. has upped the dose 3 times now, I statred with 20mg 2x a day, then 30mg 2x a day and now Im about to start PT he upped it to 40mg 2x a day... Im crossing my fingers that it will work because the pain is still pretty intence, I asked him about oxycoton and he said the opana should work better thats when he upped the rx to 40mg. The best thing I found that relives my pain is the norco 10's at this point.

the opana is 40mg are extended relife pills.

any feed back on opana would be great and I know its a really new drug so not many have taken it, but any feed back would be great.

thanks.. just need to find some relife, 7373.

Opana

Do a search for the word Opana in the upper right corner of your screen.  It is a new drug, but it has been talked about by people that have taken it including myself.  I'm not going to write my comments again, but if you just type in the word Opana you will find a few threads.

Personally I preferred the Oxycontin and Oxycodone.  Everyone is different.

Good luck

The First

Da Purdue,

Your statement that this person was the first on this websiteto be on Opana is false.  Do a search for Opana on this site.

He didn't say the first, he

He didn't say the first, he said one of the first- meaning that most controlled substance meds have been talked about by hundreds if not thousands of people on here for years. Opana is somewhat new, therefore there have not been that many who have discussed it or asked about it. i would say "one of the first" could be anywhere from 5-15 others at the most.

Here is the line.  He said the first on this website, which is false. Read it again.

Since you are the first to be a patient on Opana ER on this website

I think we were looking at different parts of what he said-I was looking at the first paragraph, you the second lolWink Well i haven't read other posts about Opana, but maybe he was meaning the first he saw that took Opana ER instead of just plain Opana? I don't know about that though, so I guess we both were right! lol, it's cool

Ohwhatpain,1) your link

Ohwhatpain,

1) your link doesnt even work to begin with.

2) it is irrelevant since that part of the statement wasnt part of the big picture.

3) he was correct. at the time he posted that, they were one of the first people on this site to have reported trying opana.

Date--My fault

Phisher

Your correct I didn't look at the date, which I usually do.  My fault.  I fell into that trap of current topic where someone had revived it.
