Hey guys and gals just wanted to let everyone i threw the towel in and checked myself into detox, before my injury at work i had over 4 years of complete sobriety, i had 4 operations and set myself onto a year nightmare, this time i did some serious damage, i had myself up to 10  80mg oxycontin, i was illegaly purchasing 75 to 100 pills a week to support my addiction. I got to the point of total misery and about to loose everything including a job making $25 a hour, my family, and the most wonderful girlfriend that exists,..... I want my sober life back and will be going into a residential program in massachusetts where i live. It all started with the 4 percocet i took on april 7th 2006 and ended up in misery. I was going from dr to dr and getting everything i asked for. At a point i had been getting 2 scripts of 90 10/325 percocet and 2 scripts of 15mg oxycodone a WEEK and wasnt enough, god bless me that i havent used a needle or heroin but it was getting there fast. The detox treatment i went to used 5mg methatdone and 25mg librium,. they dosed me 5mg every 4 hrs for 24 hours (30mg) then 15mg and 10 mg 8 hrs later (25mg) then 10mg at 8am and 10mg at 8pm (20mg) then 10mg at 8am and 5mg at 8pm (15mg) then 5mg at 8am and 5mg at 8pm (10mg) then 5mg at 8am and nothing else. They use 50mg of librium at 10pm for the 1st 4 nights and you are allowed to receive 2 benedryl and 1 melatonin at 1130 if yu still cant sleep. I feel personally that their dosing is very adiquit and worked very well for me, except the day i received 15mg then 10mg and then 50mg of librium 2 hrs later i had a lil buzz going on. I have unlimited support from my girlfriend, my mom which i live with, my 4 brothers and my job, they are paying me workers comp till i find a program. If there is anyone that has any questions or wants to speak with me send me a personal message

I'm confused.  Have you

I'm confused.  Have you already been in treatment, or no?

It looks like you said you have already been in treatment, but the end says that you are getting workers comp until you find a program.

Good luck with your program if you've not already been, and congratulations if you have.

detox

I have completed the detox this week and actually just got off the phone with workers comp, they are just responsible for paying me missed wages since i have been out of work. They are working very closely with me and are giving me all the chances that i need as long as i am honest. To also clear up the confusion i had been thru detox 5 years ago and was set off when i had a operation thru a work injury..... i am just trying to get my life back on track and keep from using that poison also know as oxycontin........If you have anymore questions please ask of private message me.......thanks for the support

Congratulations on your

Congratulations on your sobriety.  However, I don't think it's fair to label Oxycontin a "poison".  It is extremely effective for some patients, when taken as directed.

i have to agree with

i have to agree with gtrplayer.

oxycontin has been a miracle drug for many people and has greatly improved many lives as well as helped the pain for many people preparing to expire. additionally, the majority of people that take it as directed have nothing more than the usual problems getting off the med when necessary.

it really is a shame that so many condem the drug that has helped so many only because some people choose to abuse it.

never-the-less, congrats on your accomplishment. i hope that you have a speedy and full recovery.

correction

i want to apologize for the choice of terms i used, for me using the drug oxycontin not prescribed for just recitional use was my own stupidity as i do know what the ending results are. I apologize for calling it poison, seeing i was self medicating myself and not under the dr care. I do know someone that has only been able to live since oxycontin was invented. I APOLOGIZE IF I HURT ANYONES FEELINGS OR ANYTHING, i am coming back to my senses from my misery of a life on narcotics......I will keep you all informed on my progress...

here here oxycontin has made my life not half bad...

from a pain standpoint 4 a day 80mg taken as directed - just every 6 hours plop one in my mouth and swallow. one of the better meds. it still is not 100% pain free world for me but it makes it easier to live with half the pain. I am at a 4 all the time and a 9 when not on meds especially oxy.

 Someone asked if he had

Someone asked if he had been in treatment or not. There is detox and there is rehab (aka treatment...allthough detox has been called treatment). The point is detox is to get you clean....to get the drugs out of your system. Rehab is basically learning how to live sober/clean. They do this because if you just detox, most people will just relapse. Most folks who been addicted have to learn to live clean...or let's say, need time to adjust. Just getting off the drugs isn't enough.

 Hope this helps.

If I made any mistakes, please point them out.

Hey Anthony

Just wanted to say I understand exactley what you are going thru, being a recovering addict myself, I am currently on a Methadone Maintenance Program but I consider myself clean even if some others do not.  I do not abuse it and I see my counselor more than  the required amount of time and I don't abuse other drugs while on the program such as benzos like so many do.  But if you ever need to talk or anything just send me a Private Message.  I was where you were man, 10 80s a day, and I'm glad your getting out now because you mentioned not having turned to the Herion yet, it would eventually happen.  I said there is no way I will ever do herion while I was doing OCs, but I learned that in active addiction as powerul as ours, you always do your nevers.  But thats all for now, good luck buddy.     Sorry.. I just hit edit I forgot I also found your post very weird in the way your detox went with the dosing every so many hours and all that.  I am not proud to say this but I have been thru 6 detoxes and every time I started on 30mg, 25 the 2nd day, 15  the 3rd and so on..   just seemed odd to me the way yours was done, anyone else ever hear of such a detox?

Hey again

I should start reading entire threads before posting  :)  But, I agree with gtrplayer and phisher I believe it was on the fact that Oxycontin has been a miracle drug for some, it made my cousins life and also death from cancer much less painful, for the last few weeks before he passed the doctors had him taking 2 160mg OCs every 12 hours which at the time I thought was alot.  Also CairoKid, you are absolutely correct, there is detox then rehab, when I mentioned I have been thru 6 detoxes, I stayed for rehab 5 of them and I never left AMA, finished them all from 1 one 14 day stay to another 48 day stay.  But obviously having stayed after detox many times, I still relapse.  I have had clean time and recently just had another relapse and I decided the best option for me at this time is Methadone Maintenance, which has been a great decision so far.

keywords: addiction

Hi, I thinkthe keywords here are addiction, abuse, and selfmedicating. I think the raeson you refered to OC as poision as because what it has done to you because your takinway too much and you know that, but the addiction will overcome your rational way of thinking wether youknow what your doing is wrong, and you know that you really cant help it. But you see that it is ruining your life, and you want to get back to a normal life. Im sure there would be alot more people in the same boat that you are if we had access to what you had access too, and you guys know its true. And I think you were poisioning yourself with this much meds. I cant imagine what you must be going through takin that much OC. I am glad for you that you want and are trying to get your life back in order, and I bet your familys thrilled too. Hope you make it through this and can stay sober! Good Luck.!   I in know way mean to offened or insult anyone in anyway shape or form, this is just my opinion!  Hit me up anytime.
