Can anyone tell me the major differences? I usually take the "normal" oxycodone which consist of the 5's (white pills with 512 on one side) or the 10's (we call them bananas, yellow with 10/325 on them and E712 on the other). Okay....those are what I consider to be oxycodones/percocet.
I have also been prescribed oxycodone before, but it was the white pill with the M on one side and the 05|52 on the other side. I understand that to also be 5mg. So what is the difference between the one with the M (which I have heard referred to as OxyContin) and the 1st pill, that is white, scored on one side, and has 512 on it. Can anyone tell me? Are they equal? Does the one with the M on it just not contain apap? Are either one stronger than the other? Thanks for any help you can give me on this, as I'm very confused as to what is what with these things.
I also have a "OxyContin" 10 mg that is white and has G162 on it. How does that one compare with the Oxycodone yellow pill with 10/325 on it? When they are prescribed to me, both of them say oxycodone on the bottle, so Im really confused as to what the difference is.
Maybe I can clear up a couple of questions for you. Now the 5/325mg oxycodone (512 imprint) are percocets like you said and the only difference between the 512 and the M 0552 imprint is that the 512 (percocets) have Tylenol (acetaminophen) in them as well as Oxycodone and the M 0552 is pure Oxycodone with no Tylenol which is why it is smaller.
Now the Oxycontin 10mg versus the 10/325 E712 (percocet) is again Tylenol. Oxycontin doesn't contain any Tylenol either but instead of being an immediate release pill like the M 0552 the Oxycontin is in an extended release form. When you get your Oxycontin prescription it does say Oxycodone but it also says ER which stands for Ext. Release.
So theoretically all the pills you have are supposed to be equal in strength and are when we compare Oxycodone mg, but some people say that the 512 percocet don't work as well as the M 0552 which are generic roxicodone. It really all depends on the patient they might prefer the other.
