Just wondering if anyone has seen a drop in the price in Oxycontin now that they have sole control over the market on oxycodone ER pills. I'm curious how this has affected people with and without insurance. Also has anyone heard anymore about the new dosages Purdue Pharma/Fredrick claims in the PI, for example 30 and 60 mg doses?
From what their PI says they are going to making a 60mg pill. Check out their site.
Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!
Do you think they will really drop prices, I paid $960 for
the real deal 80mg @ 90 pills last year. Just too much!
There is no pain you are receding. A distant ships smoke on the horizon.....
It would be nice if the price of a prescription dropped but if it does it wont be a drastic one. And to answer the other question about purdue pharma making more selective strengths of oxycontin; yes again, they are now making 15mg, 30mg, 60mg and reinstating the 160mg dosage but I heard the 160mg dose has stricter prescribing guidelines such as a patient must be in hospice. Check this link and read about the new dosages and their color coatings. http://www.purduepharma.com/PI/Prescription/Oxycontin.pdf#page=26 page 27 The comments expressed by me on this forum are opinions and should not be perceived as recommendations or advice. Have the 60mg Oxycontin's been released yet to the pharmacies? I currently am on 40mgx3 daily and I sure would like to find out if I take the 60mgx2 if would be cheaper? I am just hoping that TEVA had really churned out a lot of their generics just before the New Year
I purchased my prescription of #90 20mg Oxycontin on January 14th and the copay was still the same. I pay $35 for the brand name, not a bad deal when you see and hear the cost of this particular medication. I doubt it will affect me because Oxycontin is not on my insurance carrier's list of medications that fall in a category of $5 copays. I can live with the $35 a month for the scrip.
Side note.....I filled my Percocet #60 5/325 prescription with the brand name for the first time this month and I will note that it is far superior to the Mallinckrodt generics I was filling with previously. They also cost me $35, so for me, $70 for my monthly meciation costs. I am grateful that it is affordable. Thanks all.
The rep was just in the office yesterday. He didn't even bring coffee, but I got 10 new pens. They have come out with new doses, most importantly a 60mg, but they are still marketing the new doses to pharmacies, so your pharmacist may need to special order it. I never realized what a big deal just getting these very expensive drugs in stock at the local pharmacies was. If the pharmacy doesn't carry it, the doctor doesn't want to write it. If the doctor is not writting for it, the pharmacy doesn't want to carry it.

Hi!
When I refilled my OxyContin (Brand name) earlier this month, my Copay was the same. I am on 60mgs x 3 per day. My Rx is for 90 x 40mgs and 90 x 20 mgs, it would be GREAT if they made a 60mg pill.
If anyone has information regarding this, that would be great.
Take care,
FLGIRL
