I am on 80mg QID brand name and they help. I am looking to find something stronger next year but one more year at this level is a good idea for me.

What would be stronger than OxyContin? Is the Fentanyl patch stronger or not? I was just wondering because I am currently on the patch (75mcg/hr) and was wondering which is stronger? Just curious!

You can develop tolerance to any narcotic. There is no ceiling for most narcotics. The maximum approved dosage for the fentanyl patch is 300mcg/hour. "Stronger" is a relative term. A 100mg dose of oxycodone taken by mouth is about as strong as 50mcg/hr Fentanyl TD, 35mg oral hydromorphone, 50mg oral oxymorphone, and 150mg oral morphine. There is also a phenomenon called incomplete cross tolerance. When you are tolerant to one narcotic and switch to a narcotic of a different type you may need a lower dosage to prevent resiratory depression, and still get the same level of pain relief.
