Hello everyone i'm new to this site and not good with a computer at all but i need some info.My doc gave me a rx for my back pain 90 hydros 5/500 amonth with 5 refills i have used 3 of the refills. When i seen him monday we got into a heated argument about the shot i got in my spine and we ended the visit not very happy with each other. I would like to know can he take away my remaining refills? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
a dr. can revoke your refill but generally won't go out of his way to do it unless you've really given him reason to do so (i.e. he suspects you are either abusing or selling it). most write so many scripts all day that they wouldn't even remember to make that call, even if they had intended to do so at the time you had your conflict. also, it doesn't look too great for the doctor to have written you all those refills in the first place then start calling around canceling them! unless you live in a tiny town with only 1 or 2 pharmacies, i'm pretty sure you don't have to worry. just don't call attention to it when you refill it, b/c if you do the pharmacist is more likely to call the dr. to verify.
Hello hunter and welcome.
I was just wondering: Did you tell your Dr where you got your Rx filled? I guess if the Dr really wanted to be a *^!&, he could call your Insurance Company and find out where you got the Rx filled and then cancel the remaining refills. Now, what I would be concerned about is my next visit with your doc and weather he/she is going to give you any more medication. You didn't elaborate on the reason for the argument between you and your Dr (which is really none of my business!) so all & all, I guess it's really hard to say what your doc will do.
Good luck and keep us posted!

The DR. giveth and the DR. can taketh away! I've seens drs do this and I've even had a pharmacist do it to ME! The pharmacist decided that EVEN THOUGH the DOCTOR wrote for 3 refills. He thought I should only have ONE!
I've worked at a pharmacy where, more than once, a DR called in to revoke refills that were on the orig. script and many times to add fills as well.
About taking away your refills--> Remember though...that means the DR needs to know where you got that particular Rx filled. They have no way of putting out an "APB" on the prescription! And...if you already got them then you already got them. It could turn into a beat the clock (or actually beat the DOC!) type thing.
Sounds like you think the doc would do this out of spite?! That sounds kind of odd. I would think that would only be done in cases of assumed diversion or suspected misuse, not just that the doctor and you argued a bit.
