Before the 'heavy users' start blasting me for creating yet another Suboxone topic let me first say I realize there are hundreds of posts regarding Suboxone. However, I have tried searching many ways to get these answers and can't find. I also realize a doctor should answer these questions but I didn't think of them when I was there and since they aren't critical I feel someone with experience should be able to answer.
I just started on Suboxone and have read the info. My questions (for someone who has been on for a while):
1) When I take 1/2 of 8mg pill (4mg), I feel good for a while then it tapers off hours later but I still feel positive and don't want percs etc. Will this feeling begin to get less and less the longer I take it or does that feeling stay consistent even with time? Meaning, if I'm still taking the same amount daily 6 months from now, will I need to take more to not want percs?
2) I was told to take 1/2 in the morning but I feel I need to take another 1/2 (over first few days) that I should then start taking 1 full one each morning (vs 1/2 then 1/2). What is the reason for that? Wouldn't someone be more likely to want to start taking more if they take a full one in the a.m. as opposed to spreading the dosage out through the day?
THANKS for any info. I'm trying to look into the future with hope. For those who want to do their usual 'bashing' (ie, call your doctor; are you taking for pain or to get high etc), please save the typing. I am trying the first step of finally stopping the use of percs b/c cold turkey doesn't work for me. Again, THANKS to whoever takes the time to help me out.

What didn't you get about "if you plan to tell me to ask a doctor etc, don't bother replying"?
I did see my doctor this morning after my post and did ask those questions. However, like any other profession, sometimes those who have actually experienced it may be able to provide better insight.
For everyone else:
He told me taking 1 full in am as opposed to 1/2 in a.m. and 1/2 in pm is just patient preference. Others may feel differently about this?!?
He also said everyone is different so going forward I may need to decrease or increase dosage. That is kind of common sense but my question really needs to be asked to someone who has gone through this. Do you still get the same feeling/results after taking it for months as you did from beginning (same dosage)?
THANK YOU to anyone who can reply detailing their thoughts/experience.
I see what you are saying.
sorry, i was just trying to help.
i would still try to call your doctor though.

I think you did fine Phisher honestly. I've never understood some folks that come on this site, cop an attitude, and then wonder why no one replies to them...Perhaps Dr Lois could help her with her question, but it appears that her Dr already has told her more than any of us could here.
To the OP, I wish you the best of luck in finding out exactly what you are wanting to know.
Thanks HurricaneJay,

need info, when i was on subutex i staeted on 8mg daily, 10 am every morning without fail. Felt like after about 12 hrs the drug was wearing off , which meant come bed time , no sleep. I put up with this for about a week before going back to my doc. HE said everyone who takes this pill has different experiences with it and gave me another 8mg tab to take at night. So obviously after taking the 16 mg my problem was solved. SO i reckon you should either do a quick reduction (not for me !) or ask your doc if he can higher your dose . It"s trial and error with this drug , so if you are uncomfortable with your current doseage ask your doc to put it up so you are comfortable. I felt great on 16mg and i took that for two years . so don"t put up with it , you will feel the same everyday on 8mg as you do now. Maximum daily dose is 32 mg so surely your doc will meet you half way if it means a better quality of life for you ? Anyway , all the best from the UK , hope all turns out ok with you mate .
I find most patients on suboxone prefer 2-4x a day dosing. Part of it might be because of the immediate anti-depressant-feel good effect, and wanting to maintain that through out the day. The target dosage for suboxone for withdrawal/addiction is 12-16mg per day. I have seen many people on lower dosages, and in at least one case I think inadequate dosing led to a relapse. I don't know about long term because I just started using it for narcotic addiction. The other thing I find is some doctors try to take you off of it too soon, or patients think the problem is under control once the initial withdrawal is over and stop taking it too soon and relapse.

I would call your doctor or doctors nurse and ask them that/those question(s)
