I've seen this med mentioned a few thime so I know that some of ya'll are familiar with it. My pCP prescribed me 200mgs per day but I've only been taking 1oomgs due to the heavy sedation that is associated with them. I'm in terested in any experiences hat anyone has had with this med. I'm also prsecribed 75 mg Efexxor ER and 1mg Xanax. I'd like to drop the Seroquel for some thing thatbserves the same purose but with out the "out of it" sensastion that accompinies it. Any experiences or suggestions? Also,my PCP stoppped prescribing me my Xanax, whuch was a greta benefit to me. I guess I need to go see an actual psyhcriatrist to get the right combo to keep me leveled out.

Any info I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Yea I take it right before

Yea I take it right before going to bed. If I didn't do that I'd be of no use to those around me. One of the problems I have with it is that regardless of how much sleep I get I still wake up with a hang-over from it. Not to mention the whacked-out dreams I get on it. Prior to being on Seroquel I was on Depacote. I felt as if that made my aggression symptons worse. I explained this to my PCP today and ha said he was going to increase my dose of it. I was prescribed 200mg but was only taking 100mg. He wants me to crank it up to 300mg! Heck, why doesn't he just put me on Thorazine (sp?) and be done with it? I'm not trying to live my life in some kind of Ozzy Ozborne stupor.

I understand the next day

I understand the next day hang over very well. I tried Desyrel (Trazadone) on a few occasions. That stuff made me sleep about 15 hours and when I woke up I felt drunk, slightly retarded and nauseous for about 4-5 hours. I dont know what condition you are being treated for, but, are there no other common medications for your illness you could ask your doc to try? Seeing that Im not a big fan of Effexor,Seroquel or Xanax I would have seeked out a different doctor right off the bat.

I went to my doctor

I went to my doctor yesterday and told him how the Seroquel was making me feel, really heavily sedated.................

His gives me the usual questionaire about how I've been feeling and all that kind of stuff. I scored higher than I usually do(low score=good/high score=bad). So what does he do...............? Takes me off the Effexor & Xanax and bumps up the Seroquel by 100mgs. Now he's got me taking 300mgs per day. Needless to say I've made an appointment with a new doctor. It just stinks being the new patient because it's hard to get an appointment any closer than a month away.

I had tried Zyprexa once but don'y remember what it was like or why I quit taking it.

hey i take seroquel zoloft

hey i take seroquel zoloft adderol right now which seems to be working but everyones brain chem is different. i have tried 17 different meds so i know the challenge. my psych, was suggesting increasing my dose of seroquel as well because he says studies have shown it peaks and then begins to act opposite making you less groggy. you may have a high level?..said it could decrease hours off sleeping. dreams are crazy but i find it amusing. maybe a dreamcatcher for you?

also i had bad luck with effexor. research  lamictal or risperdal though only risperdal if you have to, it is a dependent drug.

it does take some time..

It certainly does take some time to find the right med and the right dose for each and every very different individual; I can't really give appropriate alternative b/c I dont know what your diagnosis is, but you Dr does.. It's also possible that it's the combo of the Xanax, Effexor and Seroquel that's giving unwanted sideffects; Also Seroquel is drug that a pt. needs to titrated up on and that's why you Dr increases your dose (some people take upto 800mg a day!) and Effexor and Zyprexa, pt.'s need to weaned off of. Your dose will keep changing until you and your Dr reach desired results. If the sedation is becoming so unbearable to point that you feel you can not function a normal lifestyle and your Dr still insits that this is best therapy for your condition, You do have the right to a second opinion. But also be mindful that taking this, or other meds, in a way other than your Dr is prescribing (like skipping doses)not only interferes with finding the right drug/dose for your condition, but can also be very dangerous; Just stick with it..

seroquel

Seroquel made me sedated as well. I have been taking them for about 5 years. 25mg during the days 4x and 200mg at bedtime.
