Seroquel with methadone and desiprimine and ativan along with vicodinES
I have a question about all the medication I am taking for my bipolar disorder. They just added methadone at 10mg due to the unbearable migraines. But now I have some memory loss at times is this normal? I was just fired when my company found out I was bipolar and I am so confused...do i have a right to sue for being fired for having a disorder. I guess I just need some help here. Especially since I am taking 4 mg of Ativan a day along with the methadone is this safe?
The only problem I can see reguarding the mixing of Methadone and Ativan is an increased risk of CNS depression and Respiratory Depression which could result in suddenly not breathing or a coma. Although this risk is present when you take any Opiate with any Benzodiazepine.
well this enzyme is used to break down both of them and they said it does something when they are taken together, Cytochrome P450 3A4

hmm i cant use that one guys sig so im not a pharmacist or doc dont listen to me i just have firsthand experience and done alot of research on this stuff. talk to ur docter about it
It also says that its role in the CNS is still unknown. Either way a glass of grapefruit juice will do the same thing.
As far as effects on the CNS by combining medications, at night I take 2 mg of Klonopin, 50 mg Elavil and 10mg Ambien. I am also on Methadone at 180 mg per day. It's something I've never thought about as far as taking these meds and having difficulties with the CNS while asleep. I have been on this regimen for a couple years now.
Can anyone comment on this?

Methadone would not be my first choice for migraines in a patient with bipolar disorder who is already on benzodiazapines. There are a lot of more appropriate and effective medications for migraine.
Seroquel can also cause memory and concentration problems.
You want to look for information on the "Americans With Disabilities Act" and possibly consult an attorney regarding getting fired.
If you have been on all three of these medications for years at the same dosage you are probably fine. I read an article about how much grapefurit juice you would need to inhibit cytochrome P450 enough to cause drug toxicity. I will look it up.
Shilling again, why not ask about Rozerem instead of klonapin and/or ambien?
Doc, Methadone isn't really a opiate given to opiate niave paitents I know. But for a headache, wouldn't a drug like butapital-I think headache med right?, be the right kind of drug? Definately agree about the AWDA about your getting fired. I don't even know what desiprimine is but this OP is taking a serious cocktail of drugs, potentially fatal correct? Seroquel I have heard is prescribed off label as a sleeping pill, and from what I have heard is a knockout. The question I'm wondering is it a CNS dep. as well. This is just playing with fire in my opinion, what do you think?
Yes its a CNS depressant its a barbiturate. Butalbital. Or are you referring to the Seroquel?
I was asking about the seroquel? Atleast it's got some caffine in the buta.

no actually its very dangerous, benzodiazepines such as ativan increase the plasma levels and drug life of methadone, and when combined with methadone the ativan is about 25 % stronger but dosent last as long, well thats at least what my pharmacist told me. so id be carefull, bc the complication they are worried about is, that the methadone, slow or stop ur breathing and the ativan putting u out so u cant do nothing about it, i had to stop taking my xanax when i was on my methadone, but that was only for a couple days because i had severe reactions to it. so ask ur doctor or pharmacist about it, they called it methadone poisoing thats what they told me. i stopped taking xanax untill i called my doctor and he said to stop taking the xanax, i was only on .25mgs of it and 10mgs three a day of methadone.
