Should I retake phenergan after throwing it up?

I took phenergan about 10-15 minutes before throwing up, obviously for nausea. My question is, should I retake it or no. I only took 12.5 mg, so I know I can take another one but I don't want to if the first medication will work...

Hope everyone enjoys superbowl Sunday!

Oh, how miserable.  If you

Oh, how miserable.  If you threw it up 10 mins after taking it, you probably got it all up.  It would be safe to take another dose.  I doubt that there is any left in your system for it to work now.  and since you took what is basically a half dose, even if you didn't throw up the whole first dose, you would still be safe.  Maybe a little sleepy but doubtful.

How are you feeling? Why are you sick?

Well, apparently I had too

Well, apparently I had too much fun last night, but I never get sick and I really didn't drink that much. So I kinda think I might be sick... But I have been up since 9 am eastern, with no end in sight

It's probably too late, but

It's probably too late, but for future reference... When I've thrown up phenergan, I've crushed a phenergan and dissolved it in a little pepsi (not diet). I could keep it down if I barely sipped it. Once I got the whole dose, the throwing up would stop.

Zofran is better in that it dissolves. I've thrown that up too. I found out my nausea was caused by gastroparesis (stomach paralysis - very very slow digestion) induced by opioids. That's why the meds weren't working. But generally the kind that dissolves stays down easier.

AW, sometimes I think that we

AW, sometimes I think that we are living parallel lives . . . including our wives. Aurelia has had to resort to the suppository a few times, she says that it works like advertised. I am so pleased that my cancer, though it ranks right up there in the awful department, it does not include anything in the nausea dept.

Reed, I gather that you were taking phenergan as a sort of optimistic quick fix for a hangover, am I right? I am an honest cynic . . . therefore I subscribe to the only two true cures, the ones promulgated by Oscar Wilde. "Twenty four hours or death."

Ha...

Thanks Q... But I'm pretty sure it's not the "24 hours of death" any more... Probably a stomach bug, which I really felt like it was to begin with... But now I'm out of phenergan, and I haven't kept anything down in 2 days. What's worse is that I cannot keep my Meds down... Lexapro, xr Xanax, and benicar for blood pressure... And I feel really weird with out the lexapro, and am really, really anxious.

Glad to see you posting Q:), and thanks for everyone responses.

Reed, did you get my email

Reed, did you get my email with the stomach virus/flu remedies? If you can get ahold of salt tablets they will help but AW is right on about the Gatorade if you can keep it down! You really need to replace your electrolytes so that your neurons can keep firing. You know the biochemical sodium ion to potassium  and vice versa powers the nervous system. That's what can kill you when you are dehydrated as well as cause severe cramps like charley-horses. Someone please correct me if I've got the ion interchange fouled up. yeah, I'm starting to feel

yeah, I'm starting to feel better Q, but I still can't keep anything down as far as food goes. I made it to one class today, but felt miserable. I can't drink gatorade, or at least didn't see any with out citric acid, because I cut my throat/throwing up blood from it, just from dry heaving so much... I think it is starting to ease up, but I have so much work to do, and I really want to take my meds... I feel really really weird with out it. I am thinking about calling the student health services here to see if they will call in a RX for phenergan, because it was the only thing that let me keep down anything for a somewhat long period of time, but I have no way of getting to the dr. office,... but I HATE the way promethazine makes me feel.

if it continues for another day, I will probably go to the student health services place or the local hospital because I am pretty weak/dehydrated.. I have only probably kept down 24 oz of water... based off of my nalgeen bottle.

Not saying that anyones

Not saying that anyones answers are wrong however IMHO when you have a question like this its best answered by a trained professional, call your doctor and if its not prescribed by a doctor or your doc is hard to get a hold of just call and ask to speak to the pharmacist at any chain.

solo- thanks, I have already

solo- thanks, I have already talked to my psych, and he said he could call it in if necessary (I asked for the suppository form :/) because he wants me to keep my meds down but he would rather me go to a doctor here, but is very hard for me to get to one considering I don't have a car, nor could I ride in a car more than likely with out getting sick... but hopefully by tomorrow I'll be okay, but if not I think I will have to go somewhere.

asmmw- my friend is actually at walmart right now, and he is picking me some up... I completely forgot about it... does it taste terrible?

again thanks,

Pedialyte is nasty. My son

Pedialyte is nasty. My son was sick a few weeks ago and I try any new meds or med like substances before he takes it, basically to see if I should have them flavored so its usually just a drop on the tongue (went through 3 generic Rx Infant APAP drops before finding one that didnt need flavor). Anyways back to pedialyte, the one I got him was Fruit Flavor with added Zinc (the Zinc cause he had a nasal thing and bronchitis). It tastes way worse than just watered down juice or kool aid, its very salty but also a little sweet, so its not very good at all. Oh yeah, its also a little thicker than water I guess you could say its viscosity of milk but is in the form of water. They make pediatlyte popsicles, they might be better. The ones without added Iron might be better as well, you could also try generic store brands I think I opted for name brand because it had less sugar than WalMart brand and my son gets hyper as hello from freakin grape juice let alone real sugar. You could also try the non flavored one, anyways if you try one that actually for really tastes good let me know for future reference. All this said, he was only 13 or so months and he did drink it but I felt bad because of how bad I knew it tasted.

This is kinda gross, but

This is kinda gross, but kinda funny in a twisted way as well. When I first read the title of this post I thought dnn was asking if he should retake a pill he threw up. Like in other words (don't read any further if you don't want to be grossed out, but you can probably tell where I'm going) he took a pill and then it came back up in his, um, vomit and wanted to know if he should retake the pill that he threw up. I know more than once I've taken something, particularly my migraine pills (Maxalt) and have seen them come right back up where you can see the whole pill. Although I have yet to not make it to the toilet (knock on wood), so there would be no retaking a pill that came back up for me...even if I didn't make it to the toilet, hehe. Sorry if I grossed anyone out. I'm just really glad that when I read this post it wasn't what I thought it was originally. =)

omg

Omg kelly I was thinking the same thing.  I was like, why dont you just go to your bottle and eat another one.  Waste not want not but come on, phenergan is not that expensive.  Good to know I wasn't the only one to think that way.
