ok so i have a pretty heavy oxy habbit. like 60 to 200 mgs per day if i can get my hands on em that much. i have a fairly consistent supply and have access to other opiate pain killers when i cant get oxy. i dont know if i should go w suboxone? i do know that the withdrawls i experienced from oxy were very bad. i had the poops and really bad depression and anxiety and all that. i have been on oxy for about a year but taking opiate pain killers for about 7 or 8 years. i have alwase abused what i got. please feel free to ask the questions that help you determine if i should take suboxone or try a diff route! i'll answer it all. im asking for help here cause i need to hear from users b4 i hear from a SOBER doctor! I trust you will give me good advise and NOBODY without the proper knowledge will respond! please only people who know what they are talking about respond to this thread! I'm not in a position to b messed with. i have a real problem and need REAL help. Thankyou!
I am taking them for rectreational use and alwase have been. I do have arthritis in my lower back and get scripts for loratab for that. So the pain is not really an issue i guess??? I can tough through that for now. Later in life that might b a diff story but for now ill b alright w/out an opiate pain killer.
Hey Guy, this is Q again. I reposted on herbalgerbals thread just now cause I didn't see you here at first glance. Please go back to that thread and read my post, for what it's worth. It will take some time for folks to answer this query so have patience.
When I first posted on this site my ? was about "Possible withdrawals due to Oxycodone shortage". I'm mentioning this because I got a very helpful reply that might interest you and I'd like you to look it up in the older files. That is the topic title, it was filed in the "Chronic Pain..." forum about 04/12/09 by "quincy". The reply I'd like you to read is by "milos". It might not hurt to read my query as well but it's not totally neccessary. I've got to go but I hope that will help for starters. Good luck!

PS It's on pg. 5 2nd one down, last I looked. You might also find it helpful to surf through and look for topics that include "Suboxone". I know nothing about it except that it's way expensive...legally. I just can't get behind your Rec. use of a drug that I have to take just to be able to get out of bed. This stuff stinks big time!!! I have to take up to 175mgs. a day to be able to tie my own shoelaces. I hate being physically addicted to it and I can't believe that a healthy young man with a child and his whole life ahead of him has spent the last 8 years of his life playing cancer sufferer. Man, you must be bored if you can't find a better way to spend your time! Also check out heather24's reply to topic on chronic forum "What is suboxone?" she's a recovering Oxy/heroin addict and knows the score!
I have been on Suboxone since 8/08. It saved my life. I did some time in jail back in 2000 for forging Rx's/Altering Rx's and when I got out of Jail, I saw a pattern developing again and knew that if I didn't do something about it, it was off to Jail again. So I confronted my Dr about what I was doing and she put me on Suboxone. It saved me from going back to jail & disappointing my Husband & kids. I take 16mg/day. 1 at 7am & 1 at 7pm. When I started the Suboxone, my Dr gave me half of a 16mg dose and we waited 15 minutes and I started feeling better. Then she gave me another 8mg dose and we waited another 15 minutes and the w/d's were completely gone. After seeing her 3 or 4 times we decided the best dose for me was 16mg a day.
If you really want to quit the pain meds, then try the Suboxone. You HAVE to want to quit, or the Suboxone treatment will not work.
Best of Luck to you.....KK
I would take Methadone! Been there and have done that.
Methadone is the best choice in my opinion!
Quincy, Can you give me a link to the thread? I cant find it. Thanks! And I do apologize to all for abusing somthing ment to make your life livable! It is not fair and very irresponbible of me to do so. But it is what it is and i'm here now so i have to deal with it. i cant change what ive done to myself. i can only try my best to fix it! I have an appt on may 19th to start suboxone treatment. I have decided (and my fiance as well) to start the treatment. I feel very ok on suboxone and dont even think of the oxy! I do see myself seeking some sort of a "high" from the suboxone though. That is where my will power and wanting to quit will come into play. I can fight that urge. But with oxy i cannot! With suboxone i can. I have found today that 2 mg got me through the day. it was hard and i was kinda sick but i made it till 4pm with 2mg. So i plan on only taking what it takes to get me through.... not get high. I dont think i should take enough to totally mask the withdrawl from oxy. After all i am quitting them and i should experience some pain in the process. it's part of it.
Well all right TH, now you're sounding like you've seen it and mean it, cool! There's no link with this site so I'll try to be a better navigator. For my post: Go to the "Chronic Pain and Pain Management" forum header page, once there look for the page #'s at the top rt. and click on pg.#5. My post is the 2nd one down, title is "Possible Problems with Withdrawal due to Oxycodone Shortage", just look for quincy in the author column. For heather's "on the mark" reply, go to the Chronic Pain (CP) page and look for the topic by luvsmidgs. Click on it and h's reply is #2. Hope that does it for you 'cause I'm navigationaly challenged.
Did I read right? Is your fiance kicking too? Or did you mean that she agreed that you should start the treatment? I hope for her and your kid's sake that she's clean. Keep on postin',
Q
PS There's a bunch of suboxone posts on both pages . . . check 'em out!
I inserted in your post earlier and you must have edited it Q..
man it can happen to anyone from a dr lawyer teacher etc etc. but if you can come to the realization u have a problem that is one of the biggest hurdles, i commend u for that.suboxone will help with the wd but mentally i believe u would need to be in some kind of program, one of your choice.thats where i always messed up, i would do the subs felt better than when it was time to fill my rx i was there doing it all over again. the dr gave me lists of places to help with the mental aspect like anyone from a shrink to churches or twelve step programs, whatever u are most comfortable with.
I did notice that my 2nd post on herbalgerbals' thread . . . this is way down, after tryinhard got on . . . was gone. P'raps twas a slip twixt cup and lip methinks, me do.
Q
you had a double post..when i went to add the link you added a ps with more info where to find the topic...thus deleting my link...trust me on this one...
I can't believe how you can keep track of all this, Goat. You are now (in my book, at least) Goat, The Amazing!
tryin hard- I think you've gotten a lot of good advise in this thread, and you said you only want people to respond who can help you, but I just wanted to say good luck with kicking your habit. It takes a lot of guts to ask for help. It takes even more guts to recognize you have a problem and to seek out help. I'm sure I can speak for everyone here when I say good luck and best wishes on your recovery.
Quincy... NO my fiance is clean and alwase has beem!!!!! LOL!!! She's just very supportive of me and helping me quit that's all. Suboxone was her idea. I picked up my two 8mg pill script today. I have to bring it to my induction on tues morning. I'm so excited to finally get off oxy/opiates!!!!!!!
P.S. I just want to say thank you ALL sooooo much for being there! This has been one of the hardest things I have ever done! Not just to admit to myself that im addicted... but to everyone else as well! I really could never even dream of doing this myself. I can tell already that you are all a great group of people that will keep giving me great advise and support throughout my recovery! I'm sure you will b hearing from me alot. There is somthing very theraputic to me about writing things down for all to see. I apreciate you taking the time to read what i say and ask. I am thinking of starting an on line journal of a sort.... any suggestions on where to do so? I'd like to account the things im feeling and doing so i can go back when im feeling like relapsing and just remember what ???$* i was going through. it will b a good deturent from starting again! And as for a program. i am going to my first na session tommorow night. it's a start. my fiance is going w/me too! She's sooo great! Thanks again guys!
Hey tryinhard, pretty soon yergonna have to change yer tag ta doingood!!!

PS Dag, I'm glad I read that wrong! Take it from me, a woman that good is a jewel beyond compare. I've been married to the most amazing, loving, generous, you get the idea, woman for almost 19 years now. There's nothing like it man. Congrats!!!
Is it ok to take tylenol pm while on suboxone???
I'm on Suboxone and I have taken Tylenol PM and Advil PM and my Therapist says it's fine to take them with Suboxone. I just wanted to ask you if you are having any headaches while on the Suboxone? When I first started taking them, I had horrible daily headaches for about 5-6 months. Then they all of a sudden stopped.
Just curious. Best of luck.....KK
Headaches are a common side effect of suboxone.
Anyway...I would highly suggest getting on suboxone ONLY if you are really serious about getting sober. I am also an oxycontin addict and am now taking suboxone. It works like a dream and has saved my life.
Only downside is: suboxone is expensive and so are the doctor's visits. Thank god for my parents that are helping me with this though.
ohh and i have sleep issues (insomnia) and literally take something every night. I take tylenol pm or simply sleep. My doctor says it's perfectly fine with the suboxone.
I would not go on Suboxone, unless you have to. The above post has a good point, though, in that she was really struggling. In and out of jail and all that. So, I just think it depends on the severity of the addiction. IMO, Suboxone should only be taken as a last resort. For someone who just can't seem to get any clean time. But, if you can stay clean any other way, then stay off Suboxone.
YES, IT IS FINE IN MY OPINION, i'VE BEEN ON SUBOXONE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS AND HAVE TAKEN TYENOL PM WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS.
I WOULD GET ON SUBOXONE, IT SAVED MY LIFE!

you re not saying you re taking the oxyc s an opiate s for pain or recreation use, if you serious of getting off this medication then i suggest you go to your local county behavior specalist, an they will help you with your problem, suboxone is fairly new, they are having good reports of its success, but they saying if this treatment is taken up to be withdrawn slowly, it is also my understanding that this drug voids any other opiate that is taken while on this treatment, look under chronic pain forum under suboxone paragraph 2, i beleive,
I only hope to help you in any way i can, but I m only a poster, hope someone else chimes in
