Well I got 120 Lortab 7.5/500 Wednesday, the next day they were gone!
Called the police to make a report to take to my doc, all the cop kept saying was "these drugs are highly abused drugs, people like to sell them". I was getting the idea that he didnt believe me.
Oh well, my Doc did. Gotta get the report # 2morrow and he will give me my 120 again!
Wow you are a much braver man than I. Fortunately, I haven't had my meds stolen but if I did I would more than likely suffer.
On my pain contract it states no refills even if the meds are stolen.

Well... my house was breaking into while I was gone, the meds wasnt the only thing missing.
Dr.KnightMetal
Even still, I have a pain contract too that says the same thing- NO MATTER WHAT, your meds are your responsibility. It says it doesn't matter if they are lost or stolen.
I have heard from most people who have that "problem" of their meds being stolen that after reporting it and going to the doc for more that the doc will only give you half as much as you should have. It would really x*#&, but as in your situation, if mine were stolen having only 60 pills to last a month would be better than no pills I guess.
Good luck with your doc!
I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience.
Wow i hate that 4 you. I hope the doctor understands. I know alot of times they will help you the first time. But then if there stolen another time -no matter how long from now- . they wont help you out.

My doc is very cool. he has no problem with it. As long as I have a police report to "cover his ___"...

I have written a new script for highly reliable patients who have never needed early refills, who have had their meds stolen (I have done it three times for three different patients) I also tell people keep their meds locked up and hidden and do not tell anyone you are taking narcotics. If they get stolen a second time, I figure you didn't secure them as well as you should. For less reliable patients I have given them refills a week at a time with weekly visits and weekly UDS for 1-3 months before they can get monthly scripts again. It doesn't seem fair to refuse to provide an early refill for a highly dependant patient who is going to withdraw as well as have pain if their meds have been lost or stolen.
Really really sorry to hear about what happened Knight..hopefully your dr. will be able to give you the same amount for replacement a.s.a.p..I've never gone thru that situation so I don't know what the proceedure is for dr's..these days its like we really need a safe to put our meds in and treat them like gold round the clock.....such a drag there are those who will steal them and do things like that..keep us posted on how things go..I really feel for ya..being ripped off like that is a terrible thing.
Frankly what you did took guts, but it was the only thing you could do under the circumstances. What person (in their right mind) would file a fake police report. If I were your doc, I would take that copy of the police report as good evidence of your truthfullness.
The ramifications of filing a fake police report would be painful and your doc would know that you would not take that chance.

My meds are as important to me as money is. I have been keeping them in a safe for years. Unfortunately, it is the climate in which we live. You seem to have a very unstanding doctor. I do also, however I am not going to take the chance of theft. Safe prices are reasonable these days.
Good luck to you.

Good advice, and my meds were in a secure place. But I was gone at the time, and they somehow got into my house. Also, they knew where exactly to find them. Weird!
Anyway, I have never EVER gotten early refills, nor lost my med or got them stolen.
This is what happened today at the DR,(he is open on Saturday). I made the police report, showed it to him, he looked at my previous records to see whether it has happened before. Anyway, since my insurance wouldnt pay for the Lortab 7.5's again, he upped the dose - so the insurance would pay for them. Mighty nice of him, I thought! He took me to Lortab 10/500's (112 tabs). This is another reason why I do not want to switch doctors like my insurance is making me do.. Ill just start paying cash, and use the RX insurance to pay for them. Sweet deal!

I want your doctor. * rolls eyes * .. LOL. Sounds like he understands!

Really surprised me, to take me from 7.5 to 10. Just because mine got stolen. The stealer did me a favor!
I need to shake his hand!!! ---and RIP it OFF too! LOL!

I have been taking pain pills for about three yrs. This is the first time that I have been on here. I haven't ever heard of this. I was looking up a new med and this was one of the options on the page, so I registered. I am having a hard time.
BS
Is anyone on here? I need advice on what I am doing on here. I'm not sure what this is. Is this some kind of support group? BS
You are very fortunate that your doctor was willing to replace them. Due to rampant abuse and pill diversion, most doctor's will no longer replace lost or stolen prescriptions for controlled substances and will not give a scrip early if you run out early or lose some pills, either.
Most doctors are so afraid of having the DEA scrutinizing their prescribing practices and making a mistake that could get them into trouble and put their very careers on the line, that they won't even consider such things.
I have been in pain management from my family doc, since we don't have a pain management clinic anywhere near us anymore, for several years now. They have gone as far as posting huge signs all over the office and in all the exam rooms, even one in the bathroom, saying that if you are taking a controlled substance and they are lost, stolen, or you run out early, they WILL NOT, under any circumstances, give you a refill earlier than it is due, so don't even ask.
Aside from your insurance not paying for a second prescription so soon, there is also another reason that he had to change the dosage. Under the current laws for prescription drugs, if you had walked in that soon with another fill for the same exact thing, the pharmacy could not have filled it for you, even if you had the police report in your hands to show them what had happened.
Several years ago, I also had some pills stolen. A person, whom we thought was a friend, saw my husband get one of my pills out for me one time when she was visiting, so she knew where we kept them and two days later, most of the bottle disappeared when we were out. Thankfully, it was back before my condition had degenerated to where it is now and I was just on Darvocet, which I didn't even take all the time, just when needed, or I would have been in serious trouble as my doc's office wouldn't even replace them.
After that experience, my husband bought a small Sentry Fire Safe and that is where my bottles stay. I generally only keep a few days worth out at a time in my daily pill organizer.
No this isn't a support group. It is a pill indentification site for people who have pills and dont know what they are. We also have discussions of prescription medications.
Only my immidiate family knows and people in here know I am on narcotics I take.I had one person leave 2 messages who wanted to buy the oxycodone breakthrough narcotics I take. Unbeilivable. That's the honest to god's truth. Anyway I have them very well secured. I can only imagine the horrible withdrawls I would go through if I lost them, for I know that I would have to wait until the following month. I have been with my doctor for 14 yrs. and if it happened I would just have to x*#& it up.I would never call her.
For reasons just like this I try and limit my circle of people that know what my situation is. you always like to believe that the people you confide in are trust worthy,but..................
Ive noticed some people saying that their contract strictly prohibits the refilling of stolem or lost meds.
My question is, what if your house burns down, and the meds were in the house? Would this be an exception?
I would surely hope so! There has to be SOME exceptions.
Dr. KnightMetal
As I sit here withdrawing so bad Im sick, because mine were stolen at the club I worked at two nights ago, unfortunately my doctor dont understand and Ive NEVER called for an early refill, unless it was a weekend.. be careful what you wish for going from a 7.5 to a 10.....the higher dose you take, the worse that 1st day without them will feel
NO exceptions ... NONE!!! Not even if they burst into flames while they where in your hands . AND the doctor was there..
no bull Dylan, I am suffering right now and it stinks and today is going to be the first day without them... I have a debate at class tommorrow, an exam in accounting and 8 hours of class time altogether, I havent gotten to the really bad part of the withdrawals yet, that will come in a few hours, but as far as sleep tonight?? I wont sleep until about 9am or so, and class starts at 1230pm...
mtlgtrst1 sorry to hear that. I went through it, so I can definitly relate. Hopefully it will be a mild case that will end in 48 hrs. I have been on large doses for many years gotta say that your stronger than me,I would not be able to move- literally off the couch
Its weird for me,,, I cant sit still, Im very restless and anxious, cant sleep at all, I get really really stiff in my ankles and wrists (almost like I have to constantly bend them or crack the joints), the sweats, just a very extreme lack of comfort, not to mention the stomach issues, fortunately they havent hit yet, but they are just around the corner... I still have pain but I feel sometimes like Id just like to not even refill them, or have him switch me to Lortab, the Percocet just seem to affect me more than Lortabs, when I dont have them. The withdrawals seem to not be as bad as the Percocet. (Is there any validity to that?) Are Percocet more addictive than Lortab and if so, would they be an alternative weaning method??? The pills have had a profound impact on my life and what I do and dont do... I think at this point I am just straight up "hooked" on them and I dont know when its going to end... I read about these meds like Suboxone, but that stuff is expensive and I feel it is just changing one dependency for another, some may or may not agree, I dont care..But I feel if Im going to get off these things, the only way is truly, cold turkey (But it sure stinks :(
Just last friday i had run out of my anxiety medication and experienced the exact symptoms you mentioned. It's worse than being sick and it wasn't until today (monday) that i was able to get my medication. I didn't sleep all weekend, and couldn't eat anything. It was the worst weekend of my life. I am finally back on them and I slept all day long. It was the most relief I had felt ever. I just counted down the hours until I was able to get the prescriptions filled. I know how it feels and I know it is one of the worst things you can experience. '
It just really x*#&ed...bigtime!
See the sight can be used as a support group
. Sorry for the bad luck a few of you seem to be having, I would really try talking to the doctor no matter what the contract says though. Doctors are understanding people and don't want to see you feeling horrible. If you run out early it's a different thing. The benzos especially, since cold turkey detox can actually kill you, opiates just make you want to kill yourself. I really feel for the person with the restlessness and bone pain that has class, I've been there and wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. File a police report and call the doc!!!
Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!
In my area I have been told that the police may not even take a report if all you are reporting stolen is your narcotic pain medications. I don't think that someone who is abusing or dealing in prescription pain medication cares very much whether or not they make a false police report.
MTLGT Actually if you look at opiod conversion charts Lortab the active ingredient being hydrocodone is only a little less stronger than the active ingredient in Percocet, but narcotics affect people in different ways. When you say that you might be "hooked" I certainly would not know, only you yourself would be able to tell that. I know very little about suboxone but I think it has nalexone in it that will not allow you to get the euphoric feeling of narcotics but I may be wrong. I hope you get through this without too much pain. I am not a doctor or health pro,any posts by me are for discussion purposes only.
I have used the hydrocodone ( lortab) to detox off the oxycodone ( percet) (SP)? The withdrawl from oxycodone is much worse and they are better than hydocodone for pain and easier on the stomach....I took a friend to the ER, the doc gave him a script of vicodan 10of them...he asked if he could have percocet instead because of the stomach and the doctor only gave him 8 percocet. Pretty sad...considering his ankle was swollen ten times the original size from a spider bite.
I know youre not supposed to, but I had a friend give some lortab 5mgs today, it eased things up quite a bit. The bad feeling went away after a while, Im still not really right, but it feels better than what I went thru yesterday.. Dylan, from what I gather, Lortab is roughly 2/3 the strength of Percocet (I believe).. Im looking at just getting off of these things altogether and finding a different way to deal with pain.. For me, Percocet is what I seem to have significant withdrawal problems from, not so much with the Lortab.. At this point, I wouldnt care if hanging upside down in a meat grinder would help get these withdrawals to stop, but I know the only thing that is going to do that is to kick all the painers to the curb.. I have 6 Lortab 5mgs, Im sure that if I reduce how many I take over a day or two, possibly stretching them to Friday, I should have a low enough amount in me to hopefully not have withdrawals, I had a seizure at about 4am today for approx. 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, I was aware what was going on but I couldnt control my muscles in my arms and legs. I am still on about 22 minutes of sleep I just hope I sleep tonight, thats my primary concern...
MTLG I wish you the best in coming off the narcotics. From what I read the easiest (if you can say that) part is the physical part. From what I was told it is the mental part that CAN be ???$* for some people, but for some people addiction can be a lot easier than others. I never understood why.
i thought everything sounded pretty standard (i am detoxing myself with methadone 5 mils a day looking at being off in a week) I know what to expect but not seizures. Thats serious stuff you might want to see a doctor about some blood pressure medication(to lower it). The doctor i saw at the clinic prescribed me something that didn't take the pain completely away but greatly reduced it and allowed my to sleep. Be super careful and make sure you take every precaution available.
im not a MD just someone who has experienced something, respek
Thank god I have a very understanding doc. I know if this would have been another doc, I would have been told "NO" and then red flagged.
Not all docs are the same. Some are 200% better than the others and some are 200% worse.

Now this is different, never happened to me b4.........
The pills that were stolen, was returned to me, in my mailbox about 5 mins ago. (well, thats when I noticed them there)
I called the doc and told him, he says to bring them to him to "dispose" of properly. Or to take them to the pharmacy so they can.
Weird indeed. All of the pills arent there, there is 78 of them there though.
I guess whoever stole them, took a few and didnt like them... or whatever...
or maybe he wanted to "borrow" them 4 awhile.
The police said there was nothing that they could do, but to put this new action into my case report. Since they didnt return the bottle, or anything else with them. Just simply put them in the mailbox.
ummm.. Thanks???
also the doc told me not to take them, they might have been altered in some way... which makes sense!

Thats a strange twist for sure. I wonder if the thief couldn't handle the guilt and their conscience got them to return them? Sure makes you wonder...on the other hand, maybe the pills were tampered with? With all the crime out there today you just never know..I guess the only way to know would be to have them tested. Smart on the dr's part to mention not to take any for that reason.
Def. strange.
Usually when I get anything ripped-off, I never see it again.
Now criminals are returning what they stole? huh. imagine that!
Dr. KnightMetal
--I am not a professional, I know by experience only--
Call me cynical, but maybe someone you knew got into your house. It just seems to me that if someone you DID NOT know broke in, and stole a bunch of stuff, I doubt they would return it to your mailbox, sounds to me like someone got a case of the conscience, or kids may have done it and mommy or daddy figures it best to return necessities, like medicine but doesnt want "little johnny" to get in trouble.. It just seems too weird to me. I dont know the people you associate with, but if it were me, Id probably start with the ones I thought were the shadiest..Once again, Im just being cynical, but most crimes are committed by people we know...

anyone had this problem b4? 1st time for me!
