Hey? Anybody out there? How long does suboxone block the opiod receptors? Am in pain here, need some help. Swallowed an n8, didnt do the sublingual thing. Am about out of my mind with radiation pain in the throat and need relief before I do something totally rad. Please...any info will be greatly appreciated. Bobbyblitz48
in the interest of accuracy, I think gutpdx is referring to Actiq, which is a Fentanyl Lollipop. Same thing applies to "Morphine Patches". I hear of them all the time, but have never found anything about a "Morphine Transdermal delivery system".
You cannot swallow suboxone...it contains naloxone it it to deter abuse. You don't follow the subligual directions means you go into rapid detox...very painful. not fun. You have to dissolve it under your tongue. Never swallow it. Also, by following the directions you will find it really does work, and you wont need/crave opiates anymore eventually. So, that n8 pill you swallowed...the naloxone will work for 24-36 hours. Don't take any opiates until after then. It's just expensive **@% cause you'll feel nothing. Wait 36 hours, then use suboxone the prescribed way and all will be well.
the naloxone in Suboxone is there to prevent abuse of the med by injection. It is intentionally not in sufficient enough quantity to be effective if you [censored] or swallowed as even used sublingually you will still end up with it in your stomach. That amount is enough however to be active if injected directly into the bloodstream and will act as a blocker. The swallowing of Suboxone decreases the effect of the med significantly due to the poor bioavailibilty of buprenorphine when administered via the digestive tract
Yeah that sounds better...sorry about the post before. Swallowing reduces effect of buprenorphine in suboxone.

SWALLOWING a suboxone... will render it completely USELESS... you waisted it. I detoxed off of oxycodone using it. I detoxed in 4 doses. I don't know why on EARTH you didn't let it desolve. If your a cancer patient, why are you using Suboxone? You should consult your doctor. Really. I would think you'd have your pick of morphine lollipops and Ocontins.... if you were physically or phscyologically addicted, I would think that would take a back seat to your current cancer treatment. I'd worry about comming off of opiates AFTER. What is your doc thinking? or are you self medicating?
