Ive been taking 15-20 vicodin for the last two years, started with a broken leg but when the scripts stopped i didnt. Anyways im curious if anyone knows how much or if its even possible to get on Suboxone treatment without any insurance, got laid off so i dont have any insurance rite now. From what i was told it could be between $400-$500 for a docters appointment and to fill a script.Wondering if anyone knows a cheaper way because its time to end this &*&? for good.
Methadone is cheap but you will be on it longer than Suboxone because it will take you longer to come off of Methadone.
Also Suboxone will be going generic here very soon so atleast we will be able to save some money on the off brand version. Just hope the generics aren't garbage like some generic pain killers some of us have experiance with.
Actually I am on Suboxone and have been for a long time (since it first came out). In that time frame, inital doctors visits have been cut in half from $250-300 to now being anywhere from $150-100. After that, the visit is usually $65-$85 in the metro-Detroit area of Michigan.
The medication is the real problem is the medication. Its $5-6 per tablet without insurance. Thats $500.00 for a months supply.
Also, my insurance would only cover the first months worth of doctor's visits. So when it comes to visits, insurance isn't the factor. Its finding a way to pay for the meds.
My advice - Get on it for less than a month then wean off.

What brand of suboxone did you get? When I was prescribed in July, the brand was Reckitt-Benckiser and they are orange-flavored octagon shaped. My insurance co-pay was twenty dollars. So the total price at Walgreens for uninsured would be $224.99. That was for 30 tablets.
EDIT: I just remembered that the doctor wrote the prescription for me to take twice a day thus making it a only a 2-week regime. I thought they were pretty strong and ended up splitting them in half! ~ Theresa
Don't know how big your town is Theresa but you might want to try a local mom and pop pharmacy to get those subs. When I got mine filled on wednesday he suggested this pharmacy across the parking lot. I thought they were workng in colusion for some reason. My doctor said they would have them for sure and this other spot just around the corner. The script only cost $185. I called up Costco where I always get everything and they quoted me a price of $30 more. To me that was plain insane. Costco usually always have the best prices on medicines and for a mom and pop to be that cheap I was thrilled. My doctor called up this pharmacy before I went over, he told them that I was coming as a new patient. Didn't know what to expect from the staff about me getting this medicine; I see horror stories where the staff will treat patients like p 0 0 p because they think they patient is a low life. Well thanks a lot people!!! The staff treated me with respect and we all talked, me the pharmacist and the tech, for about twenty minutes about what I was going through and just life. Don't get that at large chain stores because they just cannot afford the time. Darn slave drivers! Seems like you can get better service and care from a mom and pop.
joe52506: What state/city are you in? San Francisco has a great place called Care Practice who will put you through induction and Maintenance for 299. You will walk out with 3 subs and a script that will help you cut down over a month!
I think because San Francisco is San Francisco that there would be the most options, per captia, out of any other major metropolitan area in the United States when it comes to kicking a dependence.
Yout know of a spot that will taper you for an entire month? That is pretty cool. The doctor I'm going to starts off, always(!), with six months so you know what you are getting into. Something about stabalizing the patient at a dose and then working down from there with Counseling and doctors visits. With his practice we all do a group meeting Thursday morning with the Counselors and the Doctor to start off with. Talk for about an hour with everyone, including the doctor, then everyone meets with the doctor one on one for their scripts and just to talk to the doctlor about how we feel in general. Its a pretty casual atmosphere. The doctor is older than Methusela (SP?) and use to run a Methadone clinic in Glendale years ago so he is equiped for this thing of his. He is really funny and easy going and I wouldn't trade him for anything. Well maybe for some free medication and a million dollars cash.
