I recently got my elbow injured, maby broken but maby not, the hospital I went to is rather shoddy. Anyways I recieved what I was told was "Torodol". I am an ex opiate addict, currently in suboxone treatment, and I must say the stuff really worked! Can anyone give me any info on this drug?
Thanks!! Also it was given by IV
Also has anyone been on suboxone and what was your experience like? I can say it did what it was supposed to....havent had a lorcet in 4 mths and never had withdrawl. Supposed to take 3 25's a day down to a half once or twice a day.
= Gastrointestinal nightmare. (And "beefed up Ibuprofen.) lol
I have rods in my back and my back started swelling. I went to the ER and they gave me a shot of toradol and 2mg of morphine. Basically I believe its an anti-inflammatory. The swelling went away quick in my back. I dont believe its a narcotic... but like felix said "beefed up ibuprofin"
Very potent NSAID. Generally only indicated for acute pain...
when i am really spasmed out i will get a shot and i am good in 5 minutes.
Toradol was given to a lot of people that have kidneys stones thru the ER. Some would be given Dilaudid and most got Toradol. Does anyone know what schedule Toradol it is? Take care, htmom
Yes, it did really work fast & good. When I was an addict I would have laughed if they said anything but demerol, or morphine. :-)
Not bragging but just 4 mths ago I was taking 10 to 15 Lorcet 10mg and 5-10 kloni's a day.
Thank my Lord he took that away from me.

most prescribed for migrane headaches.

Is intravenously the only method used? wouldnt mind having a scrip. In tablet or cap form. really dont like points. It was given in my upper buttock and hurt like dickens.
After my last surgery they gave me a torodol shot and it helped sooo much. Once it wore off I was in alot more pain...
Dont tell me that. It did really work, but since I told them I was a recovering addict they gave me a script for DARVOCET m:-( How long until it wore off? like when I wake in the morn? lol
No man it was like a week. The anti inflammatory effect last long since it was IV...I even went to my doctor a few days after and told him I'm ready to taper off OC. He laughed and said wait for the torodol to wear off...
Thanks for all the input. Really friendly. Until later :-)
I got a script (pills) for a vertical fracture of a tooth. My fired dentist said it was an abscess. I knew it was not an abscess. It hurt for a year after a root canal and a crown. I will lose that tooth. They worked great. I'm taking 2 percs a day but need a NSAID. I was on 15 mg of oxy IR qid, dropped to tid then was put on percs. I want oxy IR back. This change was done during the shortage. Even though my pharmacy had oxys IR for me. Oh well stuf happens. Take care, htmom
Acular; Acular LS; Acular PF (Ophthalmic Ketorolac, although i've never used these i'm sure they are just as bad)...I hated it, even more than I hate all the other NSAIDS, it's a GI thing for me..LOL, I need morphine to control the pain from the toradol it messes with my gut so bad. It's indicated for short term use (oral or parental) of moderate to severe pain requiring analgesia at the opioid level. The Acular preparations are for ocular use..seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, postoperative inflammation following cataract removal....This drug actually has two black box warnings from the FDA...1)NSAIDS are associated with an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events, including MI, stroke and new onset or worsening of pre-existing hypertension. 2) NSAIDS may increase risk of gastrointestional irritation, ulceration, bleeding and perforation. I just never found the benefits of using the drug even coming close to outweighing the risks. IMO, Toradol is one, if not the most, horrible drug ever made.

Not a controlled substance
...and hours later felt like my bowels were hemmorhaging. The probably were, this is a common side effect.
Seriously, I felt like I went through the act of being "drawn," as in "drawn and quartered."
Toradol (Ketorolac)Is classified as a nonopioid analgesic, an NSAID. Indications PO, IM, IV: Short term management of pain (not to exceed 5 days total for all routes combined). Ketorolac should always be given initially by the IM or IV route. Oral therapy should only be given as a continuation of IM or IV therapy. SOURCE: Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses Fifth Edition
get a IM shot or IV of this and within seconds i can smell and taste it..i always tell the dr when he gave me the toradol/ I have asked for a script of pills but thats not going to happen...I am not so sure orally this would work for me
As with everything else it works for some and not so much for others. Usually effective for most people parenterally as long as they do not use NSAIDs chronically.
Goat I'm curious why you say that getting a Rx for PO admin. is not going to happen? Does your Dr. not like using it? It may help you considerably.
and he would not write for it
I was given a script for 30mg/ml Ketorolac Tromethamine, generic for Toradol, to relieve my intense migrain pain. I got like four scripts for thirty of the one ml vials. I ended up keeping the bottles, because they make great little storage jars for my (prescribed for pain) 10mg Malli Methadone pills for up to like 2.5 days (10 pills) and/or anything else that can fit.
In regards to its painkilling and NSAID effects it helped more for the pain after my car accident than it did the migraines.
The nurse had me make an appointment so she could teach me how to give an I.M. shot into my thigh and all of the steps to pull the med out of the vial, get the air bubbles out of syringe, and to make sure the fluid was clear without any debrise or cloudiness. The appointment was kinda of strange, I felt like my doctor had put a lot of trust in me. It upped my "self-esteem"! LOL!
It is important that Toradol is not used more than 5 days in a row(don't quote me on that, it may be 7 days, "better safe than sorry").
I am not a doctor, anything I say should be considered in that light.
My source, listed in reply #18 states almost the same, Allgood . . . 5 days total, it should have read "5 continuous days" but in context I believe that is what was intended. I quoted verbatim from the source material, thank you for saying 5 days in a row . . . I didn't realize the difference it made out of context.
MooreFeen, do you think that is why Goat's Dr. won't Rx him the oral?
Q
Sorry, Q I never scrolled up.
that i think Quincy, Sometimes I get spasms that pull so hard i will see the dr after a few days of this and go ask for the shot into whatever muscles are tight..its close to instant relief for me..within a hour i am good. i want to add these shots are painful as hades..i hate it when they inject my upper leg right at the bottom of the glutes..

I'm no Dr or even play one but i've had shots of it plenty of injury times.... much as i've heard and people correct if i'm wrong, but it's like beefed up IBU..... and works wonders to help with pain associated with broken bones for some reason.. glad it worked
