what exactly is tussionex? anyone have any idea? i looked it up and it said liquid hydrocodone...this true?
yeah, that's what i read on it too...i just didn't see anything written on the bottle about it being hydrocodone. just wanted to check with someone else to see if it was true. So it would be considered the same strength as vicodin..just time released?
No, it would not be considered the same strength as vicodin.
This medicine has chlorpheneramine in it, which can cause drowsiness. Vicodin does not have chlorpheneramine.
Be careful with this medication.
yeah, the warnings on the bottle say it may cause extreme drowsiness...thank you for the warning though...it's much appriciated.
i just wanted to make sure of what it really was...would you compare it to anything? and what is it usually used for? if you have any idea
It's a cough medicine.
ok, thank you for your information, that's what i thought it was for, but i thought you'd know more about it than me. i appreciate it
Its like the grandfather of all cough medicines. It is a time released formula of 10mg hydrocodone polisterix and 8mg chlorphenaramine polisterix meant to be taken orally every 12 hours. It is available only as brand and is quite expensive. I beleive it is also a schedule II and requires a handwritten rx as so my doctor told me and I had to come to the clinic and pick it up when I needed something a little stronger than the hycodna syrup I was taking before. Not sure if he was wrong or it actually is a schedule II. I know some hydrocodone products are class II but I'm not sure exactly where the line is except for eith anything over 10mg or with less than 80mg apap is a class II, not sure about tussionex though and where it fits in to the DEA schedule. I beleive it is very heard to break the time release module and therefore cannot be as easily abused but that is aisde the point and shouldnt be mentioned on this site. I just thought it interesting info for readers and myslef. (not that I ever intended to try and abuse it but some people do :-( ) Hope this helps to give you more info.

Check the website for more information. The hydrocodone is not released regularly like a hydrocodone tablet. It is more of a time release type hydrocodone.
