What is the difference between Vicodin ( hydrocodone )

 and Percocet  (oxycodone )

My doctor prescribed percocet to me , and Im used to taking  Vicodin ES  .  Will I have the same feeling with percocet as I did with vicodin.

oxycodone is approximatley

oxycodone is approximatley 1.5-2 times stronger than hydrocodone.

they are both very similiar. both are synthetic opioid anagelsics.

sometimes people that have been taking hydrocodone for long periods of time might take a couple of days to reap the full benifit of oxycodone. but if your doctor feels that it is a good idea for you then i believe it will work out great for you.

good luck.

glad to be of helpthe white,

glad to be of helpLaughing

the white, round 512 is 5mg oxycodone by 325mg tylenol made by mallinkrodt.

just for the sake of simplicity we will disgard the amount of tylenol in both the vicodin es as well as the oxycodone tablet since theoretically it shouldnt make that much difference in pain relief.

roughly one 7.5mg hydrocodone tablet should equal approximatley 2.5mg of oxycodone (assuming that there is approximatley a 50% cross tolerance rate between opioids).

without a cross tolereance then 1 of your 5mg oxycodones should equal approximately 1 and a 1/2 of your 7.5mg hydrocodone tablets.

does that help?

if you like you can use this handy dandy narcotic calculator to play with the numbers.

additionally here is a great opioid equiv chart that Rawoody put together.
