I know everyones body is different. But what is the allowable dosage of narcotic pain meds where you do not fall into withdraw on the days you do not need them? There has gotta be some range. Is it a specific mg per day? A specific amount of continuos days till you reach the point  of not being able to stop without WD? I was taking Oxy and Lortab for years and on the days I didnt need them I was forced to take them or fall into nasty WD's. Not to mention my tolerance to the meds went up and I got to a point I didnt want to go further with the dosage, and then again didnt want to go backwards for fear of being sick. I went 5 years of not knowing what my normal state of feeling was cuz I was on pills everyday. Now being out of the woods I would like to be able to take a small dose when needed but am afraid if I take it once, twice four times in one week is my body going to become dependent of it? Why do they perscribe people who break a bone lortab for 30 days and yet they take 2-4 per day for a month and they dont get sick when that bottle runs out with no more refills on the 30th day?

I'm surprised nobody on this

I'm surprised nobody on this forum is chiming in. I thought this would be something which was easily answered. Any info would be much appreciated.

heck jim

I ll chime in, you ever try just taking half a pill of instant releif just to quell your dependancy urges, you don t have to do the full mony just because it s there, just enough to take the sick feelings away.this is when there s no pain.

hope you luck in the future.

Like you said everyone is

Like you said everyone is diffrent.I'm on a long acting pain reliever along with a short acting IR for BT PN. .What I have found is that I can go about 3-4 days without the long acting (Avinza) but I'll be in pain.If I miss 1 day of the short acting (Opana IR) I will be sick that same day.Of course this is because the long acting stays longer in your system so it keeps you good for awhile.

If you feel that you need to take some meds for BT PN then like mentioned above try 1/2 a pill if not then just take the med until you feel relief and then stop.If you are taking more than 1 per day then ween yourself off to avoid W/D's.

There is NOTHING wrong with taking meds for relief.

Good Luck!!!
