Hi All,
I'm hoping to get some feedback from the Pharmer.org community. I met with my pain doctor today and after going through our standard med Q and A, she said she wanted me to try a new med (like Lyrica she said). My doctor talks a little fast and has a bit of an accent so I miss some of the things she says from time to time.
I had my meds filled and came home and started doing my due diligence on the meds she wrote. In her defense, I do my homework on any med, regardless of the doctor and the ailment. Needless to say, I was shocked when I read that Campral's primary market is with recovering alcoholics. First off, I'm not an alcoholic and on top of that, I may have a glass of wine a month.
I'm not going to see my doctor for a few weeks so I wanted to see if someone in Pharmer land has some experience with Campral for pain management. I have a plethora of low back injuries and a good bit of nerve damage as well.
Thanks in advance!
"The Bad Back Kid"
I definitely know now woodstock is from up north, he said pop lol, the only time I hear that is when I visit my relatives in Michigan. In Texas everything is a coke, no matter if you are getting a mountain dew. Out here in California its all called soda. Sorry I know this has really nothing to do with the main subject
ya I am an ohio guy and "pop" is used here instead of soda or "coke" as they call it in the south.. It is crazy all the different names for soda, pop, or coke, but I dont understand why in texas and down south it is "coke" when it could be pepsi or any other brand name of cola... anyway rkbadback medications have all kinds of different uses even if the primary use is recovering alcoholic it could possibly be used for many other disorders judged by your physical state and your doctors opinion.. For instance I take trazodone for sleep and it is an antidepressant unlike all other ones and its primary use is for recovering addicts that are depressed short term mainly for cocaine withdrawl and sometimes panic disorder.. I am prescribed it for a sleep aid because of its sedating properties... Maybe thats why it was rx'd or you could be right and had a misunderstanding I am just giving my input on what may have happend.
I agree with what woodstock said. I did some research about Campral and Dr's Rx it for alcoholics who have stopped drinking and have already gone through w/d's. It is a maintenance med to keep them from drinking. It doesn't do anything for pain and it's not used "off label." Like woodstock said, she probably asked you if you have been drinking (meaning wine, beer) and you thought she was talking about water & so on and when you said yes she probably thought you might have a problem with alcohol. I am in no way racist but I just have never had any luck with foreign Dr's. My Therapist/Addictionologist is from Nigeria and she can be REALLY hard to understand b/c she talks fast & low but one thing I learned from her is DO NOT **@% her off!! Anyway, about the "pop" "coke" topic.....I was born & raised in Seattle and I now live in Georgia and I always say "pop." My kids laugh at me.
Be well........KK
drink pop too, Now if you need a jump start drink a Dr. Enough, it made out of pure cane sugar, has about 200 calories per 12 ounce bottle, has several vitamins an minerals too mot many about 3 i think 1 is vitamin b
im from mi. and we say pop, must be a northern thing. probably misunderstood what u said. i have dr from india and his partner cant even read or understand his writing.comes in handy sometimes.would be concernede if i didnt know my meds, but i do so its not a worry with me. is that med rx for off label things?
if i could nt read my dr s writing i might go in asking for my refill of hyrocodone, an dr scribbile some lines an i get stuck with a bottle of viagra, now that might not be a bad thing, but it won t be a good thing without my break thru for back pain
