My doctor just recently increased my dosage on Oxycontin from taking (three)- 80mg tablets every 12 hrs to (four)- 80mg, so now it reads on the bottle >>>Take (4 )tablets every 12 hrs for server pain. so i now get a total of ( Eight )-80mg tabs every 12 hrs plus---- The Oxycodone i use for breakthrough pain >Oxycodone 30mg- Take( two )-tablets every 8 hrs for breakthrough pain. I cant find Roxicodone any where. I like Brand Name's and use them if they have the meds i need in Brand Name . So my insurance says at the bottom of the receipt >> "your insurance has saved you $3,995.00 because i pay $5.00 for Brand Name's and $2.00 for generics.
Does anyone know why they stopped the160 mg Oxycontin I hate having to take 8 80mg tab's a day ?

Just happened to stumble over this post... Thats a lot of oxycontin/oxycodone, you must have some kick azz insurance. . . Just a thought, but imagine what the street value of your monthly meds must be... What does it feel like to be on upwards of 1000mg's of oxy a day? Do you even remember... j/k
I thought I read somewhere that they don't produce the 160mg in the US anymore, and that you could find it in Canada though...

They aren't producing Oxycontin 160mg anymore.
I ran across this article....It's quite old, but as far as I know they do not produce the 160mg Oxycontin, specifically because of the reasons mentioned previously...Overdosage in opiate-naive patients. Taking (2) of the 80mg will get you to the same place...Just a little safer, although IMO, in an opiate-naive person, an 80mg would make someone feel like they were gonna die, at the least, very sick.

Yeah even though that post is old it was inaccurate at the time too.
In addition to qualitest and mallinkrodt there are also Amide/actavis. As far as I've seen only Amide and Mallinkrodt are widely available. I've only seen Qualitest brand one time.
Does anyone get qualitest roxicodone? If so which pharmacy? I'm gonna post a new thread asking this since I'd like to try them next month...

I get qualitest 15mg roxis from Target pharmacy, I like Amide slightly better, but the two IMO are very comparable. Very reliable and adequate pain relief. Quick onset as well.

I am in south Georgia and I mostly use mom and pop pharmacys. I to get qualitest oxycodone and let me tell you it is GREAT! The 30mg tab is a deep blue almost purple color, the picture provided by this website doesn't quite capture the tabs blueness. It is a deep, deep blue. I have tried all the different brands and its my opinion that qualitest has the best oxycodone.

I have been on pain meds. over 8yrs. After 4 back surgery and had to be permanet disabled. My bigest problem is I don't feel any thing my pain has got worst can't sleep or stand ,sit mor than5 to10min. driving has gotten more pinful. Does any out have this problem with there pain meds. I was last taken 60mg. Ms Contin did not feel nothing as with the 10/325mg. 5 time a day for brake thru. MY doctor just change it on monday to 80mg. of oxycontin 4xday and (my first time on this meb.) 15mg of oxycodone 4xday i pick up tommorow at Target. Also I have tried every kind of morphine,kadian 40mg 3xday nothing i hope this new meds will help. Hope some can me understand why having problem geting relief...?

I would ask for a liver function test if I were you, or some kind of liver test. This doesnt seem possible?!? Did you tell your DR that Oxycontin is the only thing you can take? I meen because I dont understand why he wouldn't give you another more powerful drug other than oxycodone? And 8 a day is extraordinary. You say yourself that taking 240 a month, 8 a day stinks. Tell him!!!

I think the Oxycontin would be better for you... I had a friend that was taking 12 - 10mg Percocet a day.. and that had to be killing her liver.. Her doctor kept her on that for a few months, then finally she said something to him about her liver, and just put her on 4-40mg Oxycontin a day.. They are basically the same thing, except the Percocet has acetaminophin (sp?) in it, and less pain reliever. The Oxycontin is time release, and has more pain reliever in it.. Definitely the wiser choice is Oxycontin, for those who need it for pain.
(I am a recovering addict from Oxycontin - needed it for pain, but got hooked, and it got outta hand - been clean for 2 years!)

I use Fentanyl 100mcg every 48 hours and as breakthrough meds hydrocodone 10/325 (Norco) 4X/day. My doctor says this is a "standard" prescription. I have taken this combination for 2 years now, and had used just the hydrocodone for the previous 10 years or so by itself. I just asked her point blank if she thought that was excessive and she said no, so I believe her and considering all of the health problems I have and the fact that I haven't had many doseage increases over the ten years that I've had chronic health problems, I think I'm doing pretty good. People are so judgemental and quick to label you an addict or abuser only because you take the drug, whether or not you abuse it or not is a factor. Just because you take it you're automatically an addict. It blows

160mg OC=death to non opioid tolerate people
Since a person who has not been taking opiates and therefore does not have a tolerance can die from as little as 40mg of Oxycontin one pill containing 160mg would be a very dangerous thing and that is exactly what it was
Imagine how easy it would be for some kid to think that one pain pill and a beer or 5 wouldn't be dangerous? Now imagine that one pill that looks so safe would happen to be 160mg of OC? Now imagine how that kids parents would feel at his funeral?
I took 6 80mg and 3 40mg Oxycontin per day for over a year, 4 months ago I reduced it to just 6, 60mg OC per day because my tolerance was too high and I wanted to be able to achieve decent pain management for 2010, then made the huge mistake of trying Suboxone 20 days ago, though I suggest that people should try Suboxone I now know that it is not the drug for me and I am willing to bet that you wouldn't have any success with it either
I am happy for you for having such low cost for your pain meds, I was paying $1100 a month for the 80's and just $30/month for the 60's and I have insurance, now the cost was totally worth it to me because OC gave me my life back, don't let anyone tell you that "you take too much" because as long as you are getting what you need from the drug and not having side effects that out way the benefits you are on the correct dose
Good luck with your situation and as always be careful...of course everyone always says that to anyone taking the dreaded Oxycontin blah blah blah but I have been on a high dose and will soon be again, I can't watch my life pass me by x*#&ing on some orange goo (Suboxone) that does nothing for pain and only keeps me from having the WD's

advice
i took oxycodone 5/500 for years now i am only one the oxy 5 IR (immediate release) and that works well and i dont need to worry about damage to my kidneys from all the acetametacin. I took two 40 mg oxycontin 12 hour tablets before cause i was really hurting and never again will i do that. it took me an hour to wake up from a stuper. try mentioning the IR type pill. Also for your back maybe you could get a TENS Unit i have one for my neuropathy and it helps

Amide also makes the roxicodones (generic of course). I personally think that they are better than bot the mallie and qualitest (the qualitest just plain x*#&, every product I have ever had from them x*#&).
I take 2 80's every 12hrs and 1 30 every 4hrs for breakthrough. As for 160's the website shows they are still made red oval just the doctors never prescribe so pharmacy won't stock. I believe it is because one 160 will kill a person with no opioid tolerance.
Roxicodone is not made anymore your stuck to ethex or mallinckrodt. Even those will be hard to find for the next month nationwide shortage.
