I'm sure I am not the only one here to notice that there are alot of threads that are about  new users and there opioid addiction, typically they are generally making the same thread; "I'm user x and I've been addicted to hydrocodone/percocet/oxycontin/etc for 2/3/4/5+ years and I don't know how to stop, help help help" and most of the time the response is more or less the same: "Suboxene.com/methadone or try stepping down to a lower dose/weaker opiate" Is there any way we can pin a mini-FAQ to the discussion of meds forum? I'd be more than glad to help write or write the whole thing and just have someone proofread it.

Anyone else have any thoughts.....?

I like that idea b/c its

I like that idea b/c its like the same thing all the time with the regulars; we all reply with our experience and the same suggestions. Going through the old threads, you can find everything from methadone/suboxone, to lowering and tapering the meds, to do-alls for the best remedy during withdrawal. Don't get me wrong, I love to talk, and love to reply to everyone and share my experience when solicited, but it does get very repetitive.

I agree with js57gifts; addiction threads are very repetitive. How many more suggestions can posters give that aren't already repeated over and over again?Surprised

Tunafizzle, your idea about pinned FAQs is a great solution. Posters can refer to the 'sticky' every time someone has a question regarding addiction or needs support.

If you will write the FAQs, I'll be glad to proofread everything.

Gtrplayer has listed numerous links to support groups for addiction. Perhaps these links can be incorporated into your article?

Thanks so much for your suggestion. And also for offering to help write or entirely write the article.

The actual replies from actual folks are why it works

Just my 2 cents.  I think you all do this to be helpful, and it is much more helpful for these people, i.e., potential opiate addicts, to get real responses from real people.   Reaching out is sometimes hard and the live answer helps a person who may be really seeking help more than reading stuff from a document.  The fact that someone cares enough to reply to a poster when they are going through a rough patch is an important piece to the puzzle.

Maybe do the faq sheet, but still be willing to respond to folks that are reaching out.  The personal touch really increases your %age of chance of actually helping someone....

Just a thought.   Maybe the site is not here to help that type of person, but it does serve that purpose

I did actually get most of

I did actually get most of the rough draft done on this. I know I'm really late here but I'll try typing it up soon then getting some of you guys to proofread it. I haven't seen many new people posting that are "addicted" so I guess I haven't been in a hurry to finish it. I'll get off my lazy #&# and try finishing it though.....

MiketheBike Would you like to discuss it?

Would you like to discuss it?  You've made the statement.   You are welcome to PM me if you like, if you are hesitant to use the board, but on the other hand there are folks here that like to help people.

Here is a link to HBO's "Addiction".  The series followed a group of addicts, all of various substances, and the link features clips of each person's story.

On Suboxone.com, you can watch testimonials from patients on Suboxone in .rm or .wmv format.

Here is a link to the Mayo

Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic regarding drug addiction.

Or how about this easy to remember web-site, drug-addiction.com.

And maybe a "Drug Abuse Warning Signs" page for the heck of it.

Maybe even a little article

Maybe even a little article about life challenges, addiction.

And even a Primer on Drug Addiction, courtesy of AddictionSciences.net.

Perhaps more pertinent to the site, lets throw in a Prescription Drug Addiction site as well.
