Yes

I think it's been quieter than usual.  I check in when I can a couple times a day and the same threads are still there after several hours.  People must be busy doing their everyday stuff!  Laughing

I thought it was me, but it has been unusually quiet around here

stories

I hear the fda is going to remove apap etc from pain meds.

the drug companies should anyway.

with internet and education, everyone is learning the danger of additives.

change your formula's now and save 40,000 hospital cases and thousands of deaths every year.

boycotting is the next move in the community i heard for harmful mixtures.

Those who

...consume pain medicine for "leisure," will get your their just desserts.

Leisure consumtion?!?!

Most people here would kill to not be dependent on their narcotic pain medication to lead a semi- pain free life.

And then along came you, complaining about the inconvinience of "leisure consumtion."

Posts like this are what keep me "quiet around here..."

Saturated, while I understand

Saturated, while I understand your frustration, I would have to agree with the statement that death is not the way to control leisure consumption (or "abuse," if you want to be frank about it.) I do know people who started taking painkillers for legitimate purposes- surgery, for example- and ended up becoming trapped in an addiction, where they have stooped to the lowest of the low... scamming doctors and buying pills from dealers. People who have genuine addictions need help, and adding dangerous things to pills will not stop addicts from abusing them. What we need is more awareness and more resources for addicts to turn to in order to quit their addiction- not loads of APAP stuffed into pills to destroy their livers and kill them.

I don't know what kind of responses this comment is going to get me... I certianly don't want to offend anyone. I DO know what it is like to live with chronic pain, and I know a lot of other people who live with it as well. I do feel angry at individuals who scam doctors and mess around with pain medication for illicit purposes, but I still do not believe that making medication more dangerous is the answer. It's going to kill addicts and possibly harm those who take the medication legally as well!

Excuse any typos please... I have a broken finger :P

Pink-

You'll get no negative response from me. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm well aware of the disease progression when it comes to drug addiction, be it licit or illicit. I've dealt with a barbituate addiction myself. I  made the choice to address it. I can speak from both sides of the fence.

APAP is not, however, added to the opiate combination products as an abuse deterrent, although it may end up serving that secondary purpose. Combo products were developed long before the FDA/ DEA ever became aware of widespread abuse of these opiate combination products.

If someone knowingly chooses to consume massive (possibly fatal doses) of APAP to get a Vicodin high, my opinion is they get what they deserve.

Forgive the rather crude analogy, but should we remove bullets from their casings so people who choose to do so cannot commit suicide, only hear a loud bang?

Have a nice evening. I read your blog. Very interesting.

That is a good analogy, Sat,

That is a good analogy, Sat, and I respect your opinion as well. Also, props for dealing with your addiction. I have a lot of respect for people who fight that battle and win.

This all said, I've read another response by this poster and I, like you, am starting to get a bit concerned.

Oh, and thank you for reading my blog by the way :)  There isn't much in there yet. I haven't had a lot of time to write lately.

Yeah, I think he's been taking his own suggestions...

No need to thank me, you ought to update it when you have the time. I almost read the whole thing; wish I'd had the time. I enjoy writing as well. I almost majored in journalism.

Thanks, Sat :) well I definitely appreciate feedback, especially from someone like you who obviously takes an interest in writing if you were considering majoring in journalism. I almost did the same, but I was bitten by the psychology bug and haven't looked back. Feel free to check it out any time you like, once the holidays start I should have more time to write. :)

I read your blog a few weeks

I read your blog a few weeks ago.  I love reading about someone's life.  I'm also a reality show(whether real or not) junkie.  I'm such a private person that I could never have a blog, FB,MS or twitter.  Htmom

...Just when I thought we were going to get along. Wink

Let me know when you update that blog of yours. Perhaps you could explain in detail how you were "influenced" to cheer for Les Habitants. Parlez vu francais?

@ htmom: Aw, thanks! Wow, I

@ htmom: Aw, thanks! Wow, I didn't know people would actually be interested! I just thought I'd put the link there for kicks and giggles. Oh, and I, too, enjoy the odd reality show... I liked A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila... don't tell anyone that, though. They'd laugh at me forever!

@ Sat: I'll be sure to let you know ^_^ And as for my love of the Habs... well, like I said, I was raised into it, y'know? My Dad and I used to watch the games when I was little. He cheered for the Habs and so I did as well :) it's all about good memories and stuff. We also had a huge party in 1993 when they won the Cup!

Oh... and I used to speak French a little, but I'm so rusty now... my French is atrocious, hahaha :D

I'll admit, when I think

I'll admit, when I think hockey, I think Canadiens. They are THE franchise. They are to hockey what McDonalds is to the world of fast food.

They have such a rich history...

Sorry for polluting this poor thread.

I think a lot of people would

I think a lot of people would agree, Sat. Well, they'd either think of the Habs or the Leafs, one or the other. Or both! I can't think of a more awesomely Canadian activity than getting together with friends or family and watching a Habs/Leafs game. So fun. I'm totally a hockey girl, all the way. I LOVE it!

Oh, and I, too, am sorry for helping hijack the thread!

Hahaha, I've never seen BB

Hahaha, I've never seen BB but I hear it can be quite wacky! I don't know, all the reality shows I've watched are the ones with a lot of girly catfights. I also loved Flavour of Love... never understood all these women drooling over Flava Flav... good God that man is unattractive... but whatever floats your boat, I suppose! It's interesting, anyway. I don't watch a lot of TV; when I do, it's usually either documentaries and stuff on Discovery Channel (I am a HUGE science !%!^) or, well, the hockey game, hahaha. So every once in a while, it's nice to feed your brain some junk food!

Pink

We need to continue this conversation in another forum! I played all the way through high school and was offered a full-ride at U. of Maine, but things just went in another direction.
