This is not going to be long winded.  I think it's all been said in the original movie, except for the apology to the good people and the great site here that has undoubtedly saved a life or two since its been here.  I've personally noticed that this site is not full of kids at all (some of course) but many very much adult individuals (of any age) with good hearts.  I will be 60 in a few years and simply don't deserve the kind of negative judgement and generalization that went on in that original post.  Neither does anyone else here.  How can someone so young have any idea how much pain I've suffered in my almost 60 years, or how much any of you have suffered in the past and currently.  I am hurting as I type this.  Thank God for the drugs that allow CP sufferers the chance to live a fuller life.  The original movie (Think about this) was a prime example of the type of generalization many of us face in the real world.  I wonder how much of the writers rant was from "guilt" or anger with himself.  Somehow he was the "only" person justified in being here.  Perhaps he used the site for exactly what he was ranting about, then felt guilty about it, then got angry, thus the rant.  I can't apologize for him, but I can say how sorry I am that his post hurt many of you and me.

Anyway enough about him.  I want to thank all the posters on this site for the difficult detailed work that they do to help people.  Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  I'm not trying to stoke a fire here, so if anyone follows this post, let's keep it positive.  I just felt that an apology was due, still is.

I completely agree with what

I completely agree with what thelifeline has to say in the above post. I would like to mention a situation that happened to me just lately where this site was a tremendous help to me personally. I picked up my blood pressure medication at the pharmacy and did a pill count to make sure it was accurate. As I was counting the pills, I noticed one that looked a little different..same size and a white tablet, but the pill said Watson on one side and a number on the other which was totally different from the others. I decided to post a question here about it and found out that it wasn't blood pressure medication, it was Lorazepam 1 mg (Ativan). Solo 5010 posted the correct info on the pill and that really was important to me since I should never miss a day of BP medication..which would have happened had I taken this Lorazepam pill. Solo5010's reply saved the day for me. As it turns out, after double checking the pills, there were two pills of Lorazepam mixed in with the other pills, so this would have happened twice!..apparently some kind of slip up at the pharmacy, which has never happened to me before. That experience made me realize how valuable this site truly is. Just wanted to say thank you and bring a positive story to the surface here after yesterdays situation. Even tho the Lorazepam wouldn't have hurt me, it wouldn't bring down my BP like my atenolol, so it was very important to know what that pill was and avoid taking it. I took my regular dose of atenolol that day and everything worked out just fine. Smile

the 'Original Movie'?

I'm interested to know what this post is commenting on. thelifeline mentions a 'movie' about the writer who's ranting about something. Where can I find the original topic posted here? Was it maybe the ranting done by "SeymourA87" in 'think about this'? As there are so many interesting topics on this site, I just now came across this post. Any help would be appreciated. AIP

Always in pain, I also saw

Always in pain, I also saw the Seymour rant but he might have been an adult but I do remember being quite young. I have been coming to this site for about a year or so and also do not know what this original post was. I also gave him some out and out facts coming fron the AMA and he quickly discarded them mentally. I never again posted anything by him for as I said he was young and had little life expeirence with chronic or acute pain (coming from HIS posts)as I and many other in here have. There just happens to be a lot of people who actually think people like me with severe physical pain is "faking it" as 1 of my own family member said to get "a high" which I never have done, not to say I cannot do so. People just do not understand unless unfortunatly it comes upon them.

Thanks for the response gc

Thanks for the response gc. I've read some of the other posts by Seymour. IMO, he seems to think us CP's really are faking it just to get pain meds. But as you said, even our own families don't unsterstand what we are going through. As far as "getting high", after being on opiates for over 5 years now, I don't get a 'high' feeling at all! The only way I know one med works better than another one is by feeling less pain. Since my pain pump is "failing', I'm not getting anywhere near the relief I should be getting. I have an upcoming surgery, (to replace my pump), which is tentivley scheduled for Feb 6th. Of course that could change because I'm having other medical problems because of diabetic neuropathy, which about 2 weeks ago I was developing an infection on my right big toe. I just went yesterday for a CT scan because of the lack of circulation in my legs and feet. It was from my neck down to my toes, (with & without contrast). Depending on those results, I don't know yet if that would delay my surgery. This will make it my 8th surgery! So Oh Yeah - I'm "faking it! What a bunch of cr_p! Like you said - uless it comes upon those other people who just don't understand - they have NO idea what us CP's go through on a day to day basis. If those kind of people could just live in our bodies for even just 24 hours - maybe they would change their tune. AIP
