this was on the news here tonight... pretty good story. The State "says" it is cracking down and making new laws to track narcs to prevent out of state shoppers getting away with this......

I know this is a horse beat to death on here but atleast this shows eyes are opening up.... well atleast they say they are..
One obvious difference h2os is that those people are willing to drive to Florida etc to see a pain doctor / pill mill. From your previous posts, you aren't willing to take the time to see a pain management dr once a month, because you work full time. Plenty of pain patients work full time and many more would really appreciate being able to do so. I know for a fact thta there are good pain doctors in SC and I'm sure there are in Charlotte too. When your pain is comprimising your ability to work, that monthly appt won't seem like such a big burden. At any rate, I don't see the concern about pill mills in south Florida as why you can't get help.
they find a good therapy pain , they can place you on a 90 day plan, for most meds, but some have to be picked up in person.
WOODSTOCK
I have to drive 90 miles round trip. I have to see my dr once every 3 months. I have nurse visits for those months in between. My nurse visits are really to pick up scripts. Most nurse visits take about 5 minutes or less. There are options. You have to find a dr that is willing to treat you. My clinic has a dr that does injections etc and my dr sees the patients that will not benefit or no medical need for those procedures. My clinic does have rules that must be followed. Take care, htmom
If you like stories that the OP linked to, this is a great documentary about this exact problem. In the 47 minutes of this really good story there are very few inaccuries, lies, mistruths, etc. The only one I can think of is this doctor insisting that Oxycodone is the same as heroin, other than that these people did there research. Check it out and pass it along.
that was interesting.
Here in Kentucky the had 500 indictments on people going to florida and other states bringing large amounts of pills back to sell.
It's not that I am not willing to take time out...it's my job won't allow me to take time off every month to drive however far I need to get to an appointment. I live right next to Charlotte. If you know of these great doctors...pm me or what ever the rules will allow and shed some light my way. My pain does compromise my ability to work but I just suck it up because financially i have to work. I did not say it was a burden to go to a monthly appointment. I don't have an issue with that at all! I would prefer to have a primary doc prescribe meds so that I wouldn't be subject to all the hassles with pain clinics. I in no way said that I wouldn't go to a pain clinic as I have already been to one. I said in my previous posts that I would be willing to go to a pain clinic if I could find one that would help me with meds. The one here which I did end up going back to just to see if he would help... Saying meds don't work only injections. I had a really bad experience with my injections and now fear having them done. I don't oppose them as long as the doc will cover me with meds too. I had terrible pain after my injections...my nerosurgeon even told me not to have anymore due to the irritation it caused my situation. I also recently found out that on top of my back issues, I have SI joint problems too.
In case you were wondering, my neuro won't treat my pain unless I have surgery. He's the one that referred me to my current PCP, who won't budge on my current pain regimen.
As far me commenting on the above article, The article focused on the people who divert their meds and yes that does have an effect on us who need them and can't get them. Doctors in my area are super paranoid about prescribing meds because of all the hype of abuse and diversion. Can't blame them. When these type of things hit the media....it affects alot of people!
SI joint problems come up in very few conditions. The main one that comes to mind(because I have it) is Ankylosing Spondylitis or one of the HLA-B27+ spondylorothrapies. If your films are showing SI fusing or inflamation, you need to see a Rhuematologist ASAP so you can be treated properly if you have it. Everyone takes a different course but speaking for myself and some others I know with the condition, it is very painful until the fusing process is complete which could take many years to a life time or just a few years. Problem is, it doesn't stop at those joints. Look it up and see about a Rhuemy.
The doctor discovered it through an exam. Also from the symptoms I am having. The doctor told me that it more than likey happened during/after pregnancy. She didn't say anything about RA or AS. i will do some research. Thanks for the input.

This is why I can't get help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I have real pain. Documented pain.
Sorry had to vent.
