Maybe I'm one of those lucky one's that his drug does that to. and I'm taking them as prescribed. 300mg 3 times a day. so any advice on this. Wink

I have not noticed that.  I'm

I have not noticed that.  I'm on 800 mg qid (four times a day).  It is great that you don't feel really tired like Goat said.   I think Neurontin (gabapentin) is over looked because it is not a narcotic.  It works really well for nerve pain, IMO.  Take care, htmom

Gabapentin almost feels like

Gabapentin almost feels like a Benzo to me, and thats strange. It takes away all the fear, relaxes me. I become more talkitive. It's just strange.

sonic

I hate to ask about your mental health...are you bipolar by any chance?  I ask because i have read that gabapentin can be used as a mood stabilizer.

gaba

I find it interesting that Lyrica (pregabalin) is a controlled substance, albeit schedule V, but Neurontin is not.  It's not that I see these drugs as being typical drugs of abuse but I thought that they were supposed to be extremely similar, with Lyrica being one of those drugs that are introduced  to replace a similar med going generic.  But the link between Lyrica and Neurontin might not be as simple as Celexa and Lexapro.  I have taken Lyrica before and am starting Neurontin this week (prior authorization needed for Lyrica), so I guess I will find out.  Glad that your medication is working well for you.

I was switched from Lyrica to

I was switched from Lyrica to Neurontin.  I find that Neurontin works just as good if not better than Lyrica.  I read that Neurontin is abused.  I do not want to go into details.  Just goes to show that some people will abuse anything.  Take care, htmom
