Just wondering about something, I have been here for quite sometime and most of you know why I have to take pain meds. The question I have today though is I think that the 10/325 5x a day is ust not doing anything for me anymore, what would you all suggest for a different medication?
I was taking oxycodone 10/325 but I would like to know also, I am deciding on coming off these and wanted to know that will tramadol ease the w/d's I know this is additive too, but I think if I go slow doing it, it wont be so bad, just let me know thanks for your input
a controlled substance (at least in KY), I don't think it will do much to ease withdrawals. I think a better route would be to taper ever so slowly, with the help of your doctor, of course. Say over the course of 2 months, each week lowering your dose. You might even have someone else dispense the medicine to you so you won't be tempted to take more. Even with tapering slowly you might feel some discomfort of withdrawal, but it would be nothing compared to quitting cold turkey (or chicken), whatever you prefer...LOL. Can I ask why you are taking opiates and why are you considering coming off of them. I have read your posts before, but my memory is about as long as my little finger...Good luck, hope this helps a little

Fentanyl is far more superior than anything out there. For me it gives me so much more energy, and no popping pills all the time. Much easier when you are out and about and with pills you are looking for a corner to pop a pill so that you dont get those stares. No one knows you have the patch on. I would always be on it if it didnt fall off in the summer months when I am more sweaty. Oh, and if you are lucky enough to get Actiq, you have it made. A true BT med. Myself I get BT pain everyday but can deal, its the episodes I get once a week that make me want to head to the ER for a shot that kill me. Myself, I would trade 180 norco or 90 roxy 15s for 4 Actiq.
I personally think tramadol is great to help with WD. If you run out of your meds suddenly it will keep you from certain misery, in my experience. However, I dont have an addiction, but do have physical dependance so the tramadol helps to fill in the void if Im a day or two short on my meds and keeps me from getting increased pain and the restlessness, as well as Klonopin.
Here it is, I take oxycodone 10/325 and about 6 to 8 a day I feel like its taking control of life as Ive stated, but to clear up about tramodol helping with the w/s i have been out of my percs for two days, but i take the tramodol and it does seems to take the edge off. I have L5/S1 fracture surgery is not set yep but i am considering it, i have seen the neurosurgeon and he said i really need to get it fix. Im just nervous about, I go to my general practioner every month for my refills and i disguss with him each and every month that im nervous about the surgery. But again back to tramdol it does seem to take the edge off or maybe its just not out of system(percs i mean) the only thing is uncomfortable is sleep time, I cannot sleep thru the night, I do also take a muscle relaxer flexirid will that help as well thru the w/ds

Hydrocodone or Oxycodone? Hydrocodone 10/325=Norco, Oxycodone 10/325=Percocet. If you're taking hydrocodone switch to oxycodone. If you're taking oxycodone, you could switch to Oxycontin (oxycodone extended release). IMO, you should consider taking an extended release medication and then use the hydro or oxy for breakthrough pain. I will say, and this is just me personally, Fentanyl beats everything else hands down. No more popping pills 5-6 times a day, no peaks and valleys in your pain relief, and the overall quality of the pain relief that fentanyl provides is much better than any other opiate i've tried, and i've tried them all. I think that if you speak to a few other members on pharmer, you'll find that the fentanyl users will say the same. I use fentanyl patch 100mcg and change it every 48 hours and hydrocodone 3-4 times a day if needed. Hope this helps
